The mass claim stuff is something that we are going to have to figure out, though, or we're going to just start losing players. It's not really playing mafia when on D3, 15 of the 21 players have claimed their town role. If there were a bunch of VTs in the game, or something, then perhaps it would be okay since there would be places for scum to make a claim. But, when everyone has a legit power role, there just isn't a whole lot of room to make up new claims that won't automatically set off scum alarms for half the players.
This is the second straight game that hidden text has outed scum and/or confirmed town players. I understand the idea, but it really, really sucks to be on the shit end of something like that.

Mass claiming isn't something you can really stop without a rule against it. Whether people choose to claim with little to no pressure (DS) or wait until pressured/close to a lynch, the only way most people back off of a lynch is after a claim.
Go back and look through any game you want, you'll see the same thought process used over and over again. Let's pressure "X" knowing fair well the end result will be a claim unless X chooses not to which pretty much no one does because they know the only possible chance to survive is claim or hope someone else chooses step up and possibly out their role by posting information.
It boils down to who is picked to pressure and how believable the claims are as they come out. If enough are believable or supportable/provable with information gained the cycle continues to the next person until the mass is happy with the lynch target thus producing the mass claim effect.

I am not talking about people claiming under pressure. I am talking about most of the game just outing their role, DS style, for no reason.

Did I say you were?
Whether DS outs his role with his first post of D-1 or waits until he is L-1 whenever that happens, the difference is only the timing of it which goes back to paragraph 3 of my previous post.
# of claims each day = how quick pressure builds + how believable a claim is + any information that can be used against the claim
If the game moves along fast enough and the people who are pressured have provable roles that are probably town or people who choose to post information to support the claim, you get more role claims then if you hit a role that can't be or is harder to prove or scum that is making up a role/gets caught in a lie and the day ends more quickly.
DS only increases that # by 1 (himself). So while yes, many don't like how DS chooses to play, overall it doesn't impact the game as much as people are ranting about.
How many people each game actually choose to claim with little to no pressure?
A percentage of total players please.

Sorry for blocking you sock, I actually totally forgot that I had already figured out your role
It was literally just me wanting to show you a penis |
I was begging for that dick pic and I never got it. :( |
My question is, did everyone get the same pic? |
I hope not. I hope DS had to google dick pics and had to pick a different one each night. |
Unfortunately I got very familiar with the content of Carlos Danger's sexts throughout DS' life in this game. | "All this from a slice of gabagool?" |

I'm torn on the claimimg issue.
Usually ppl claim when pressured or out of nowhere and what is left is a shit list with scum, inactives, and townies who'd rather not claim. I tend to be in that last group and last game it got me blocked, delayed, killed and whatnot which can be annoying.
On the other hand, didn't Dylan just prove that even with a full claim, a mod confirmed PROOF for the claim, and with a track record of being the first person to mention Nofo D1 and killing mafia using the role, you still can get lynched?
I think claims are part of the game and forbidding them is not the way to go. Maybe some roles that make claiming less attractive or like Spin's role was a p good solution too.

Wouldn't adding a few plain VTs solve the issue? |

Maddie, I had so much fun in this game. It'seems prolly the hardest I'very played as town.
Zach (my son :p) you were great, especially for your first game. Josh you really stepped it up later on too. Matt? Well, I remember you exist at least because I had to harass you to tell us your info on the Mason board... but that's about it.
Great job Spin! You almost won, and mafia had lot stacked against them. Scum had some really bad luck... especially the SKs.
I think mass claims are hard to avoid if town gets ahead early. They ARE lazy though and can be combat ed by the game'starts setup in a few ways.
1. Have unconventional role distribution among factions (Like Christian as twin role cop).
2. Have roles that are hard to believe (Mik's role)
3. Leave some traditional town roles out of the game. Allow mafia to have those roles.
4. Have vanilla Townes.
I think Maddie's game was well balanced. Scum just got unlucky.

The political parallels in this game were so good.
- The press fucking over Hillary Clinton once again (Badger and I laughed about the irony in this for a while)
- No one believing Lindsey Graham was actually against his own party.
- Spicer being the first to take the hit for the Administration.
- Bernie Sanders dying the same day AHCA passes the House.
- Paul Ryan being the last remaining (literal) scum.
- All the Republican town members dying. | "All this from a slice of gabagool?" |

also props to Big Dyl for that Primate snipe |
Un-fucking-believeable. Josh, the Town Nurse, is the easy lynch, and then Dylan steps up and takes out our roleblocker or would have taken out the GF.
If we didn't have bad luck, we wouldn't have had any luck at all... |

To clarify, Curtis didn't throw nofo under the bus for town cred. He was too busy and forgot they were on the same team.

and it might have carried you a very long time if it wasn't for that pesky SKer. interestingly i only killed you because with Badger having claimed tracker info you were a relatively safe kill when normally you are not. plus i wanted to free you up since you were(are?) hosting that other game.
SKers took out 2 mafia in 2 nights.

I also dislike the mass claim mentality. I think having a few games with a heavy dose of nilla towies in them would help take the easy button away.
The tendency here seems to be for people to hold onto votes until late. I do the same sometimes. That lends to people claiming prematurely, imo. I know I'm rarely around when days end, so I tend to claim before I leave work if I have more than a couple of votes on me. I think other people probably fear the EOD speed lynch and do the same.
