I watched Megamind earlier today. |
Thats a good cartoon kids movie. Entertaining for those who are you know... not kids. |
Yep. DreamWorks is good at that. So is Pixar, but Megamind's not by them.

I haven't seen much for Early Hitchcock, but Hupu, you must see Rear Window. It is my favorite. Psycho too but everyone knows the spoiler. If you don't let that get you down and enjoy the film making though you realize how stunning it is. Rope is really good too and not many people talk about it at all. I have "The Masterpiece Collection" |
Hupu - take this advice. I hadn't really watched any Hitchcock up until the other week, either. Vertigo/Psycho/Birds were ones I had seen in English class a long time ago. I caught Rear Window on a movie channel late one night and holy shit was it good. Before watching Rear Window I was a completely biased cunt against old movies. It blew my prejudice apart at the seams. So good.

Envy (2004)
Jack Black, Ben Stiller - two guys I'm not really big on. It appears this movie was widely panned by...everyone, but I actually liked it. Ben Stiller plays a working class guy and Jack Black is his less successful buddy that works with him. Ben tries to reign him in and get him to focus but Jack is a dreamer and comes up with a terrible idea of some kind of spray that makes dog poop disappear. He tells Ben he can get in on it for 2000 dollars, but Ben scoffs at the idea. "Dog shit doesn't just disappear!"
18 months later the invention is a massive hit and Jack Black is still living across the road from Ben, but he has a massive mansion and all kinds of ridiculous stuff. Ben becomes extremely bitter and envious of his friend's success. Wacky things happen and Christopher Walken playing a bum trying to help Ben take Jack down is introduced into the story.
It wasn't a comedy classic or anything but it took kind of a dark turn out of nowhere, and I'm always a fan of that. I also liked it because it seemed like a terrible idea I would come up with, and it was nice to see this fictitious character succeed with his idea. Even if the public becomes outraged demanding to know "WHERE DOES THE SHIT GO?!"
2 stars out of 5 for a regular movie, 4 stars out of 5 for a Jack Black movie.

TV - Freaks and Geeks
Love this show. Sundance has been doing an early morning marathon of episodes. Wish it had lasted more than just one season.

More Woody Allen. Love and Death. Another really good straight up comedy. Inspired by Russian Literature and rumored to be Allen's own personal favorite film.

Alien Anthology on Blu-Ray for 28 dollars on Amazon.
I hope it's still on sale tomorrow; I just got in and really don't feel like going back out just to get an Amazon gift card.
