would have been a waste of that power for someone who didn't show up, would have looked horribly scummy and lamps would have been voted the next day instead im sure of it

Every mafia team i've been on, someone else could post. They could have used Lamps powers without Lamps ever showing up.
Just because Lamps didn't post in the day thread doesn't mean Lamps would not have been around.
