yeah, they really could sprinkle more infected throughout. Besides a few major setpieces they've really been absent from a lot of this. I get that they're the catalyst rather than the focus of the plot, and I wouldn't expect nearly as many encounters as the game, but it's still pretty important to establish the omnipresent danger that they're faced with
I haven't read anything but I'd be shocked if they deviated that much from the ending, that'd be very disappointing as that's the best part of either game. I feel like everything this season (even the changes) has still been building to it though
I love this show so far. Just finished ep5 and I had been dreading that episode since they announced the show. It's one of those video game moments that hits you hard and you never forget. And they absolutely nailed it.
good! Very satisfied overall. Hit all the beats I was hoping for, and the last scene was perfect

was weird hearing Ashley Johnson's voice in the flashback, it's just too distinct to separate from that character (unlike Troy Baker). Cool to get an explanation for Ellie's immunity though
The scenes between Joel/Ellie really delivered here, damn. "It wasn't time that healed me" 😢😢
On one hand they made Joel even more of a monster here by making it clear that they definitely had a viable plan for developing a vaccine, but on the other I think they did an even better job establishing why he makes the decision he does
it felt a bit rushed to me weirdly but there wasn't a ton left to show since they don't really focus on fights with infected

(the double Bloater fight in the underground portion of the hospital)
so once they made it to the hospital, yeah it was basically playing the game on easy mode with Joel wiping out everyone. def echo the sentiment that the Joel-Ellie scenes were acted to perfection. at the end you could feel like Ellie knew Joel was lying and Joel knew that she knew but they both reached a level of acceptance that the truth doesnt really matter because they have and love each other. absolutely loved it.
also loved that the OG Ellie (Ashley Johnson) played the show Ellie's mom. really sweet nod to the game.
i need to finish part 2 before season 2 comes out. amazing show and i'll likely rewatch the whole thing soon.
Ehh, wasn’t as great as I would’ve hoped. I feel like that had all the elements of being a classic but didn’t do anything particularly interesting or new with it
Good! I gotta say tho, as super solid as the show was from start to finish, it was rarely...astounding? After the start was so good I was ready for it to build on itself and become an all timer, but outside of Bill and Frank's ep it never quite reached that level for me
Production was A+++, acting was great, seems to be a very faithful adaptation, but it was missing some real OOMF towards the end of the season imo. Maybe it's because I kept watching eps late and frames and videos were all over instagram and twitter every day so I got spoiled on stuff and understood the vibe of the eps in advanced, but idk, it's not like all of this wasn't spoiled for all the gamers already so
Hard to complain though, just wish my jaw had dropped once or twice. Probably an 8/10 overall and very consistent from start to finish
Fun seeing my CR girls Ashley (and Laura as frightened nurse #2!!)
