True, though I like the peat in my single malts understated (I'm not a huge Islay guy because I feel the smoke overwhelms the character).

On of my favorite "inxpensive" single malts is Glenmorangie's port wine finished stuff. The smoke is there but muted by the port barrel aging.

I think I typed that post about scotch while I was drunk because I don't remember writing it. Still true though.

I think Dalwhinnie is my favorite. Jura is quite good as well, actually.

I'll drink them, but they aren't my preference. I'm the same with beers made with smoked malts- they tend to be over done instead of subtle.

I've been on a Buffalo wing kick recently ... I can't eat them as hot as I used to though. :sad:

tried this a few days ago after being dragged to a Japanese restaurant where I liked the sound of pretty much nothing on the menu, so I decided might as well just order the oddest sounding thing. Actually was p okay to my surprise
