THE AUTHOR IS A MAN NOT BORN IN THE USA.
THE BOOK WAS WRITTEN BEFORE 1900.
THE LETTER "L" DOES NOT APPEAR ON THE BOOK. (I ASSUME COVER PAGE)
IT IS NOT A MYTHOLOGICAL CHARACTER.

I think the L question was a joke. Asking if the letter L appears in the BOOK at all lol

my head is going to Captain Nemo from 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea

Is there a strong focus on a large body of water, (like a river, ocean, etc.) in the book this character is from?

that covers Moby Dick and 20K Leagues haha
