I wish I had the choice to get Fios. I am trying to get away from the Comcast evil empire and the only other choice I have that I can tell is Frontier for internet, which is horrible. I was considering Direct TV but too many issues with installation. So, someone told me about Chromecast but I don't know if streaming instead of cable is a good idea. How can I watch Survivor in real time, for instance? And no DVR. I just feel like a slave to Comcast.

Comcast is the worst. When we had them, our cable went down (net still worked). I found out our neighbors were having the same issue. I called in an outage. The woman on the phone said there wasn't an outage. I told her there was and that our neighbors on our block were also out. She said there was no outage. I said "Then please explain to me why none of us have cable?"

She checked, came back and said "There is no outage, but there may be a problem in your area."

I'm like THAT'S A FUCKING OUTAGE!

I swapped to FioS as soon as I could after that. We missed one of our favorites because of that non-outage.

I hate Comcast at home... And I have no complaints! (:

Actually that's not true. They do keep raising their rates. But I've never had too many issues that weren't caused by the old raggedy cable that was being used as the connection. Still, I've gotten really lucky with them for the most part.

Yea, I've gotten lucky with them too. Except the part where I have to have my laptop connected with an ethernet cable to connect to the internet, otherwise it's slow as fudge. Probably an issue with my laptop but it works at my parents house, its spooky.

Didn't they change their name to xfinity because of all the bad publicity that Comcast got? Pretty diabolically evil if you ask me

I assume you mean you "have" Comcast at home taking it in context. I don't have any complaints about their service - it's just the rates. They are ridiculously high and I don't watch that much tv - but the shows I watch, I really NEED lol. If I could find a tv alternative that works, I'd just keep my internet with Comcast but they would still charge me about $60 a month for just that.

Yeah, I was saying it mostly because I know a lot of people have had major issues with them as well as customer service fucking them over. My internet is better than any other options available locally though so I'm sticking with them.

My wifi is Home-5FE2, a truly zany name.

I have Comcast too and before this year I had only one complaint, and that is their price. But this year I'm in one of their test markets for the 300 GB data cap, so I'm extremely unhappy with that. I filed an FCC complaint and they basically responded with "lol nobody needs more than 300 gigs." I've no real alternatives except for satellite internet and no thanks.

Cities over, Chattanooga installed their own infrastructure for fios but they keep getting railroaded and blocked from expanding to other cities.
