He gave them back to me today telling me they didn't work and he had another set around his neck. I don't know whether to be mad, or just not care because now I have wireless ear buds. but they don't work? They didn't work on his phone for some reason. He has StraightTalk. The earbuds work fine with my iPhone. Maybe they're just picky, but hey (kind of) free earbuds!

My mom said maybe he just didn't like them. Guess he's not getting anything next year!

This has nothing to do with my job woes, but Carrie Fisher's tweets are so interesting to me linguistically! Except I have like no language to describe what goes on in them linguistically, because I wasn't mentally awake in the one linguistics class of my academic career, but like !!! Tweets + Like, internet linguistics is interesting enough, but I need to relearn shit so I can properly express how I feel about this style. It's so efficient if you understand it, but it also looks chaotic as fuck and you're like "Carrie r u ok?" because she is precious and not always ok, and her tweets probably pissed off language snobs! I'd write a whole fucking essay on it if I had the knowledge, spoons, and/or got paid enough. I love it. It indirectly reminds me about how plain language/accessibility in academics is a thing I want to focus on if I ever get around to grad school because I fucking hate that bogged down and unnecessarily complicated academic essay language bullshit.

I love her tweets. It's not surprisingly hard to read, and it fascinates me how she started tweeting like this.

Story/rant time!

So on Tumblr, Jesse Williams the actor reblogged some post about diversity in American Girl dolls and asked if the dolls had hair that was actually like natural black hair or if the ringlet styles were as close as they got, and I was like "The Addy dolls have hair that's more like natural hair", and then I was like "Wait, do they still?" because the Addy doll that I have is the older Meet/pink dress version from before Mattel took over the company and I have no idea if the current gen dolls have the exact same kind of hair.

But that made me remember how I fucked up my doll's hair trying to style it like real hair, and now I don't remember if the doll I have here in my room is my original one or if I took my sister's Addy doll and left mine at my grandparents' house with my sister's other dolls. And I'm still mad that my sister got a Samantha doll, but I never got a Josefina or Molly doll. Josefina's not actually retired and I could get a Molly doll on ebay, but I'm petty. Josefina was the one I wanted the most and I did a report in fifth grade about how I'd cast a film adaptation of her story.
