I saw Gatsby in theaters and thought it was worth a watch. The visuals are at least a treat even if they're way too SACCHARINE for what's meant to be a somewhat bleak and tragic story. LEO's performance is great too, and the soundtrack, while often intrusive, sounds good. It doesn't come together and a lot of potentially STRONG moments end up being weightless but it's still an interesting experience. How did you feel about the book/Redford version?
Didn't watch Gatsby yet but I watched the first two parts of Frank Darabont's Mob City. Pretty good so far. It's full of strong/familiar supporting actors and all of Darabont's FAVES. Shane from The Walking Dead, Neal McDonough, Jeffrey DeMunn, T-Bag from Prison Break, Edward Burns, Gregory Itzin, Daniel Roebuck etc. It's basically full of fan favorites from other shows. Simon Pegg too
If you dig neo-noir shit then you'd like this I'm sure. The first episode had a pretty nice surprise in it and the production design is pretty strong. There's only six episodes and they're 45 minute each, free On Demand. Gonna watch the rest throughout the week
I've sort of gone on a movie tear this Christmas break. I saw the Hunt. Its all in german with subtitles but the acting is really great!

]Final transition was kind of abrupt but i guess that is the way it goes. Final scene was confusing about who shot at him at the end. I hate those endings but love them at the same time.
"So, uh, what are we saying here? If we save LA from a nuclear bomb, then you and I can get together for dinner and a movie?"
It was...OKAY. I thought Leo was amazing in it. One of his better performances of his if not his best. He seemed to absolutely nail the character that I admittedly know nothing about. If it wasn't for Leo, I think the movie would've been a waste tbh
I thought it was terrible up until the second we met Gatsby. The editing was god awful. I really hate editing like that. When there are long shots of the dialogue not matching the mouth movements and weird jump cuts...I can't stand it. It was done so much that it didn't seem like continuity issues or laziness, it just seems like that's the director's style. NOT A FAN!
The part I liked the most was the story and the characters really, so I guess I should read the book. Daisy being Gatsby's motivation for everything/their love story, Gatsby quickly falling from grace and losing his cool, Tom manipulating the mechanic, Gatsby covering for Daisy about the hit and run, Gatsby's death, etc. Those were the strongest moments by far but they seemed so smothered by the style and tone of the movie. Leo/Mulligan/Edgerton were all so good and the characters seem really well written, I would've much rather seen the same actors as those characters but directed by someone else who focused on them more. Would've been far better I think
