Yea, I don’t know. I found the overall tone to be really corny. Characters felt super over the top and really underdeveloped. Arnie’s “transformation” is super interesting, but gets sort of thrown to the side at the final act of the movie with his incredibly quick and anticlimactic death. It felt like it was missing a lot of crucial scenes. Like when the girlfriend freaks out about Arnie liking the car more than her. We’re shown nothing that supports that fear. It’s just sort of… said. It feels like a lot of King adaptations… we get the bullet points of the story, but not the extra depth that pulls it all together. I will say though, the car kills and transformations were great. The shot of the flaming car driving down the road is awesome, especially with the Carpenter score over it. That man sure knows how to play a tune! SCORE - 5/10 Paranormal - Possession: Prince of Darkness v Possession v Christine Two Carpenter movies...and they both lose to Possession! 2 points to s2! Prince of Darkness was pretty terrible so… 1 point to Harry Dean Stanton and Christine (s3)! 0 points for Alice Cooper and Prince of Darkness (s1)! S2 is pulling away! Can anyone stop this momentum!? LITTLE SHOP. LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS! LITTLE SHOP. LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS! I actually had no idea this was a musical until it started. And even then I thought there was just an intro musical number but then the bops just kept on coming. After about an hour and twenty minutes of nonstop music I decided that this was definitely a musical Rick Moranis, what a CROONER! Those pipes! Had no idea that was him singing which is great. I loved him in it, I love him in everything tbh. That was really perfect casting Him and Steve Martin carry the movie for suuuuure. Like Jacob said once Steve Martin leaves it definitely goes downhill humor wise, I dont remember anything all that funny after that. Bill Murray was hilarious in his one scene too, wish he was in it more Overall I do wish it was funnier, even though it had three STUDS I didnt laugh out loud a ton. The musical numbers were p good, as catching as LIIIIIITLE SHOP. LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS! is, I liked the skid row song the best. Moranis kills it in that one The plant animatronic was insane. You could definitely tell this was a Frank Oz movie. It looked so great and its movements were spot on. It was even lip syncing perfectly. Really impressive Overall a fun time, just wish I found it funnier. A high six ★★★ average/good/interesting concept Misc - Comedy Horror: The Frighteners vs Vampire’s Kiss vs Little Shop of Horrors Oh man. Battle of the 6's. I echo all of Jacob's thoughts on these three. Vampires Kiss is whatever without Cage. Frighteners has some fun performances from Combs and Dee Wallace but Little Shop has even more fun performances from Steve Martin and Moranis and Bill Murray, plus some good musical numbers and the wonderful effects. Little Shop then Frighteners then Vampires Kiss SOMEHOW 2020 still has a decent lead for me. Sure doesn't feel like it 2020: 20 2019: 14 2018: 14

Terrible! Hated every second of it! I see it pop up all the time and thought it looked interesting because of the poster. No sir! It was so poorly made, maybe one of the least impressive productions I have ever seen. There was just zero continuity, shots did not flow into each other well at all, the staging and blocking was SO awkward. It was all just so bad I almost half liked the main character because he was such a fucking weirdo of a lead. Some shots of the mounds of stuff were kinda neat. List ends there ★½ fatally flawed/frustrating/boring Misc. - Body Horror: From Beyond v The Skin I Live In v The Stuff The Stuff is a lock for NADAAAA. First of all, this is decidedly NOT a horror movie! Which is a shame, it sucks when we have misfires during this It wasn't bad. It was shot really well and everything looked great. I liked how the opening credits had "Lingerie" and "Perfume" credits sandwiched somewhere between Writer and Director. That sure set the tone I thought the concept was the best part and could've made for a really interesting horror movie. If the lines were blurred further in their roleplay then it couldve ended up a lot like Berberian Sound Studio. But still, the switcheroo of who was really the dom was fun But all that aside, it didnt really do a ton for me and didnt stir me emotionally one bit besides the fact that the sub girl really grated on me as it went on, I didnt like her at all. Overall it was okay but I wont remember any of it in T minus two weeks ★★★ average/good/interesting concept Misc - Horror Romance: Only Lovers Left Alive v Love Witch v The Duke of Burgundy. Only Lovers is the standout for me, thats a 7 and these two are 6s. Between Love Witch and Burgundy, I thought Love Witch was more unique and fun and memorable. That gets the two, Burgundy gets 0 2020: 20 2019: 17 2018: 17

del Toro's first feature and my second favorite from him which...isn't saying much tbh! But at least I liked it enough unlike his other's I've seen (besides Pan's). It was okay, I had no complaints really. Main guy was good and Ron Perlman was a fun villain I liked the design of the device and those nasty metal needles. The shots inside the device were cool too Also enjoyed how it was essentially a retelling of the vampire story By far......easily......without a DOUBT the most fucked up thing I've seen in any movie we've watched for these lists is when that guy came out of the bathroom stall and saw the pool of blood on the sink an just started to WIPE it up with his BARE HANDS! What the FUCK! Lock that guy up ★★★ average/good/interesting concept Paranormal - Supernatural: The Orphanage vs Carrie vs Cronos. Hey del Toro again! But this time as a producer for Orphanage. The Orphanage is def my fav of the three, I liked it quite a bit. Second place is a toss up tbh. Even though I had issues with Carrie and not many with Cronos, I think Im gonna give it to Carrie by a smidge. It might just be the fact that its a classic that gives it the edge tbh 2020: 20 2019: 18 2018: 19

As the movie started I was like oh boy, this is nooooooot gonna be great. And it definitely wasnt. But I still liked it! The quality was very rough at the start and my stream quality itself wasnt good which didnt help. I thought itd just be some shitty giant alligator movie, but it was actually pretty fun. It wasnt an over the top satire but it was definitely a satire and knew how silly it was. If it took itself too seriously like every other Jaws ripoff from that time then it wouldve been way worse, but it had a fun sense of humor. I laughed a couple of times, that silly police chief had my favorite line "it isnt hiding in the BUSHES!!" Love Robert Forster in everything, he was fun in this. I liked his hairline jokes, apparently those were improvised. Turns out his character here was QT's inspiration for his great Jackie Brown character. I can see it There's this fun thing that movies like this do where they introduce you to what seem like background characters early on and you think you'll never see them again but they end up being future victims. I always like when I'm surprised by that, like when someone pops back up and I realize they're actually a character in this movie and they're slated to die. Like the douche pet store owner and the douche scientist and the douche journalist. I liked how they made everyone so unlikable before killing them When the kids were by the pool I said to myself if this were anything like The Blob they would kill this kid but that wont happen. AND THEN IT DID! Kid got FUCKED! The wedding crashing scene was fun. Especially the douche mayor and the douche CEOs deaths. Overall a fun time for what it was. A B movie that knew it was a B movie ★★★ average/good/interesting concept Monster - Giant Monster: Shin Godzilla vs Them! vs Alligator. Not hard! Shin is the worst easily, Them is middle, Alligator is my favorite. Surprising, I was ready to count Alligator out before it even started. Weak matchup though 2020: 22 2019: 19 2018: 19

An interesting premise with some INTERESTING characters, but narratively this feels all over the place. I thought the ending with the boyfriend murderer was so out of nowhere. So many scenes felt overstuffed and random. Some really great visual work though and some great EFFECTS. SCORE - 5/10 Gore - Torture: The Strangers v The Perfection v American Mary Man, I do not like torture movies! Most of the time they just feel unnecessary and shallow, and thats pretty much how I feel about all three of these! Perfection and s2 get 0 points. Mary/s3 gets 1 point and the Strangers/s1 gets 2. Pretty solid Del Toro! Really enjoyed the relationship between Jesus and Mercedes. Young Ron Perlman was WILD. It’s a quick 90 minute movie that doesn’t overstay its welcome. It’s an early Del Toro who’s still trying to find his voice. SCORE - 6/10 Paranormal - Supernatural: The Orphanage v Carrie v Cronos Super easy! Carrie/s2 gets 2 points. Orphanage/s1 gets 1. Great location. I might be picky but I think they could have done a BIT more with their setting, but having all the different theater kids was a lot of fun. None of the characters are TERRIBLE but none of them really shine either. I can barely remember anyone outside of the director. The mask is ridiculous. It’s the goofiest mask in slasher history and that is SAYING something. The ending has one of the most bizarre acting performances I’ve ever seen. The janitor or maintenance guy won’t shut up. It’s insane. Go watch if you wanna see what I mean. SCORE - 6/10 Killer - Slasher: Candyman v Peeping Tom v Stage Fright. OOF. Another bad blow for s3 due to match up. Yiiikes I havent posted about one in a bit, whoops! I watched this like a month ago so its foggy already I thought it was hit and miss but overall okay. Elijah Wood was a fun choice. The dialogue isnt great and the delivery from everyone was never all that great but I think the movie knew that and didn't care I remember liking the music a lot I think the strength was in the kills. The scalping was often brutal, especially that one older lady that he had tied up in bed. Iirc it was a practical effect and looked great and the music swelling as Elijah Wood was screaming and scalping was good stuff I forget a lot! It was fine ★★★ average/good/interesting concept Gore & Disturbing: Extreme: Antichrist vs Gozu vs Maniac. Easiest matchup yet maybe. Antichrist was the best, Maniac middle, and Gozu was steamyyyyyyyyy dogshit 2020: 23 2019: 19 2018: 21

I had myself quiiiiiite the double feature here! Two movies about two fucking psychos This movie was....disgusting. I saw the Martyrs skinning scene, Dafoe's erect penis, and even the guy in the Chronos bathroom wiping up the blood with his hands.....but NOTHING...and I mean NOTHING! will gross me out as much as this nutcase eating a sausage. That scene was so fucking gross and went on forever. AND THEN THEY DID IT AGAIN LATER! I hated every second of it both times, so gross The rest of the movie, also gross! It was just so....invasive. Like whenever the guy would tie someone up or drag them across glass he was so handsy and it was all so perverted and gross. Its a movie that I should've hated but I appreciated how grossed out it made me tbh Apparently this had a huge influence on Gasper Noe and boiiii I could tell, even though I've only seen two of his movies. The camerawork was cool at times, those overhead tracking shots were nice and Noe clearly enjoyed them, that's for sure Very bleak, very disturbing, hated the killer a whole lot in a good way p0[']/?:"()P ★★★ average/good/interesting concept Psychological: Home Invasion: Wait Until Dark vs Funny Games vs Angst. Daaaaaaaaang, tough break. Funny Games was one of my favorites last year and Wait Until Dark was good shit too. Goooooood shit. My favorite so far We're kinda out of good meta horror movies that we could come up with so we decide a documentary about horror was good enough for us. Feels a bit weird putting a doc as my favorite movie of the bunch but here we are Loved the enthusiasm from everyone, they were all so knowledgeable and gushed about a lot of the movies. Some cool guests, I wish they had more tbh Really enjoyed following the trends of each decade and why they became trends in the first place, that was the strength of the doc imo Also really loved the heavy focus on Get Out at the beginning and end as a sorta bookend to the whole thing, shows how important that beaut of a movie is Had it as an 8 at first but landing on a 7. Cant really hold anything against it though, it was a fun watch Also I loved the intro ★★★ average/good/interesting concept Misc - Meta: Fright Night vs One Cut of the Dead vs Horror Noire. Mannnnnn, Fright Night vs Horror Noire is a brutal matchup, but I gotta give it to Fright Night. Basically a photo finish.
