I'm going with an 8 because it was 7.5 and I have to bump it up just because my memories were actually better than the viewing experience tonight... but also because of Marisa Tomei's outfits. JK but it was good, I loved Joe Pesci/Marisa Tomei and the judge's characters and the last courtroom scene was my fave. So rly 7.5 - but 8

Also, I was glad Merc spoiled so people forgot about me.

I had you all muted so nothing got spoiled but yeah it was all predictable. I went with a 9 because of the acting. I loved all of the characters including the judge and the prosecutor. It felt like I was watching some acting legends that I don't know enough about to appreciate. Pesci and Tomei made magic together, I couldn't get enough of them. This movie would have been below average if it wasn't for the cast so me giving it a 9 shows how much I enjoyed them. I'm glad I got to see it without the 12 year old haze Jacob was talking about

FE Watches changing LIVES!

This is probably my favorite comedy movie of all time and I will watch it anytime it's on. It's one of those movies I can pretty much quote from start to finish and it was fun being able to watch it on Rabbit, even though I had to restrain myself from finishing lines.

Marisa Tomei is fucking smoking in this movie and the chemistry between her, Joe Pesci and Fred Gwynne is great. I love all the little running gags throughout the movie from Vinny getting woken up by loud noises every night, the dress code issues and the $200. The second hand suit court scene, start to finish, is probably my favorite scene in the movie. Sheriff Farley's chuckle and Bill's flabbergasted look make me crack up every single time. Haller and Vinny's exchange afterwards, Vinny falling asleep and making his opening statement literally "everything that guy just said is bullshit", and the public defender's awkward stutter being revealed. Fucking hilarious.

I think what I like best about this movie is that it doesn't have a cheesy main villain. I'm definitely not counting JT and the $200 gag. It keeps the banter throughout the movie very genuine. They could have made Trotter an asshole but they didn't. Trotter and Vinny have a good relationship in the movie and it's pretty clear that Trotter is simply just doing his job and does the right thing in the end by dismissing when insurmountable proof arises.

Ended up going with a 7! I was honestly 5 seconds from falling asleep when the movie started, but it was entertaining enough to keep me awake and interested for the entire thing, so even though it didn't land as much for me i think that's largely just because i was tired

Might wanna watch it again on more of a MOVIE NIGHT setup and see how i like it then. I think it'd improve it a lot vs watching on my phone under my covers

KC, I noticed and appreciated that too! Not having a villain. I was pleasantly surprised that they didn't turn the prosecutor into one. One of my weird favorite things in media is when they just let people be people and blur the lines of the standard character tropes. I don't need cartoon villains and routine comeuppance. This is a weird comparison but Im showing my mom Stranger Things currently and that's one of the things I like about it. There's a lot of flawed characters and the writers don't feel obligated to make them all pay for their flaws. Its refreshing for some reason.
