*weights clang into place, Furious slowly rises from the weight bench with eyes boring a hole thru the center mass of his child, slightly amused*

Goooood flick

Very sad stuff despite me allegedly inappropriately laughing during the saddest moment (unconfirmed slander). That final text was especially brutal

Thought it did a great and (I assume) accurate job of depicting that life. I loved the helicopters flying overhead 24/7 and how normalized all the violence was, pretty brutal. It's sorta overwhelming imagining living in those conditions, the violence is so random and stupid

Crazy to think about how Singleton was only like 23 when he made this and that it was his first movie. Youngest person nominated for best director and first African American, p cool

Whole cast was really good. Laurence Fishburne was my favorite. What a dad

Music was melodramatic and hammy during some good emotional scenes which was too bad, but I can't knock the movie for anything else really. Good stuff all around. 7/10

I believe it was the scene with Furious in Compton giving a lecture to the hood about real estate and gentrification. The 'passer-by' that engaged him came out of nowhere and was aggressively lacking eyebrows.

He was an important fixture of the movie, obviously.

I wasn't looking for eyebrows, but I was taking notes on how white corporate america screws over the black people.

He limps up slow as fuck in the opposite direction of everyone else, gleefully points at all the young bloods telling them they're the ones dying and ruining the neighborhood and not him, and is all around like indifferent to the truth Furious is laying out.
