There was a bug that if you middle clicked on the next page button in a thread, to open in a new tab, it'd prevent you from posting a reply in the original tab. It was bugging me to no end but I finally fixed it today which is a relief. |
Also different but apparently the PM system would post the reply to a PM if you had text in the fast reply box but clicked the big add reply button (the one that takes you to a full screen reply). Also fixed this just now.

Though this won't affect users, admins will be pleased to hear I've given the CP a facelift. The old dark and chunky skin has been replaced with a lighter more streamlined one. Additional information for each page has also been added to the top.
On top of this the CP loads differently. The menus at the top and side are now static and will never change. The only part of the page that will reload is the section in the middle. This makes the whole process of managing your forum feel a lot smoother without the need to load as much data each time. I'll be gradually improving it to make it smoother still, but for now it's a very nice effect.
This has been live since the time I did the cookie update but I haven't announced it because it came with a rather annoying downside in that you couldn't refresh the page. Well, you could but doing so would always throw you back to the admin welcome screen. Though refreshing isn't that common in the admin CP (I can't remember the last time I did it) it was an annoying little issue I didn't care for. However some new code I rolled out today will still retain the page you were viewing even on refresh.
There are a handful of pages this might not work for but as I go through and update individual sections in my total Admin CP overhaul these should be resolved.
The other nice extra with the code I rolled out today is that it will eventually allow for logging of moderator/admin actions and displaying an online list on the admin CP. Again, not major but still information which is nice to have sometimes.

I've updated the page changing. Rather than the old first/previous page number next/last format I used to have, now you'll be able to click through onto the next and previous 3 pages (as well as the first and last).
Clicking ... or Page: will bring up the box to enter your page number.
At the moment these don't style to match the skin but I'll work on that.

Since I neither code the cbox nor have access to the source code of the cbox, I can't really answer that question Ari.

I like the new page system much better Porl. Though I still think it'd be better if you could press Enter instead of clicking off when entering a page number, but it's not a big deal

Page changing within a thread now updates differently. To jump to a page click "Page" or "..." on the page number selection and type in the number. Instead of clicking out of the box updating the page, you now have to press enter or click "Go".
I'll be updating the thread listing to use this as well but for now it's only on page changing within threads.

I'm slowly echoing the page changing to all aspects of paging on the forum. I just put it on the main forum view for changing pages in that.

I've added a built in news fader to N-Dim. At the moment the admin CP doesn't allow you to access the screen to play around with it because I need to tweak it, but it'll be released shortly. It displays on the front page of the forum and can cycle through up to 20 messages of a certain length. They change every five seconds.
It will be enabled/disabled in the new news fader admin screen I'm working on.

Should delay the changing a bit more ... To 7 or 8 seconds probably... | I used to travel the universe, but settled for parks.

Ultimately I'll probably let the admin of the forum choose the delay time, but for now it's preset. 7 is a good compromise.

Probably would work best if you could specify how long each message can stay on. Wouldn't make much sense for a 3 word message to stay on as long as a 3 sentence message

That's doable actually. I like that idea.

In recognition of your good suggestion, I've added an extra two messages to the fader.
