I saw the Civil War thread but didn't want to spam in there. As I've said in Daredeveil/Jessica Jones threads, I had never seen anything from the MCU. I think it had to do with the entire first phase coming out when I was in undergrad/grad school and I just go so far behind I never caught up. I actually saw Guardians of the Galaxy in theaters but had no idea how everything was connected at that point.
Anyway, I watched the first seasons of Jessica Jones and Daredevil before really deciding I should catch up on the movies.
I didn't know much about the movies except that the Incredible Hulk was p.bad and could be skipped. It was okay. Also, I liked the Thor movies a lot more than I thought I would. I've watch in release order and just finished Winter Soldier. I'm debating a Guardians re-watch just so I can catch any callbacks I may have missed in theaters, then on to Ultron and Ant-Man. Hoping to catch Civil War in theaters in a week or so.
I feel like I've missed out on a lot by being so far behind, but it has also been really fun to almost binge watch the movies the last week or so.
What is the consensus on the ABC shows? Necessary to watch?

With SHIELD, I think it's the other way around, you have to watch the movies to watch them, plus they're super bad so I stopped watching after a few episodes.
Agent Carter is ok/good but pretty much standalone.
You can pretty well skip both if you want or don't have time.
With Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., the movies affect it more than it affects anything in the MCU. The show has gotten a lot better since the beginning, but it is still a network series. It's usually really good, sometimes a little silly, but I personally love it.
Agent Carter is pretty cool, but because her story takes place in the past, you don't necessarily have to watch it. I did lose interest in this one though as the seasons progressed. I don't think I watched either season finale.
