I thought Mouzone was a hugely popular character from what I knew, but I agree with Boc. Pretty disappointed by him and I just learned that he's not in it anymore. I see him as fairly unrealistic too. Reminds me a bit of THE COUSINS from Breaking Bad. I actually think his best moment was the scene Hupu posted. I mostly appreciate it for the Western vibe tho
many took issue with the lack of fan favorite characters like mcnulty, lester, and bunk, and were disappointed with how there was no mention of bubbles' drug addiction and how kima became cutty's love interest. bill lee's score didn't help
"There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. Some kind of high powered mutant never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die."
How do you like the kids so far? I know it's a hurtle for a lot of new people because they take up so much of the BELOVED CAST's screentime.
The kids are all fine so far. I almost got a Stand By Me vibe from some of the scenes (: . What's the ponytail kid's name? Nay? I like that he's Wee-Bey's son. I wish Avon had a son so that they could keep him in the show that way :((
I'm sure everything I'm seeing now will start to send these four into their different directions throughout the season, like Michael with Marlo, or Randy accidentally sending Lex to his death (reminded me of Wallace and Omar's boy). So I'm excited to see how it plays out for them all. I'm relatively unspoiled on this season and their story. I know from you guys that one of them is really tragic but that's no surprise
Other general thots that I can recall:
- Really liked the cuts between the meeting at the school and the one at the police station. Same camera motions and same themes. Probably one of the more direct parallels that they've drawn that I can remember
- Another parallel. Nay? says that if someone offers him money (Marlo), he's taking it. Clay Davis says the same exact line later in the episode. I liked that. And his delivery was hilarious: "I take any motherfucker's money if he giving it away!" Davis also had the best sheeeeeeeeeeeit I've ever heard
- Royce's cock
- Carcetti is great so far. I loved him in his defeated scenes, like when he was whining and yelling the word fuck in a hilarious way. And when he drunkenly left his shoe on his lawn and shrugged it off. Also FREDDY! What an undercover career Reg E. Cathey has
- RIP Fruit. Surprised to see him drop so quickly in the season given his somewhat key roles last year
- Enjoyed people watching the debate all from different perspectives
- Bubbs and Prez's confused glances to each other at the school were hilarious
Finishing episode four now. Bunk placing the typed up "Tater killed me" card in the corpses hand with a phone number in the other to prank Kima was hilarious
I don't really get it....haven't you seen the Wire before Curtis?
