I used to! I've been a couple times. It's a pretty crazy place. Are you going on vacation? | "So, uh, what are we saying here? If we save LA from a nuclear bomb, then you and I can get together for dinner and a movie?"

I'm Christmas shopping and was hoping to find something specific to the area instead of just sending money. It's for a guy, early 20's that just moved there. I had a couple places suggested to me from a mom friend of mine and thought I'd check here as well. She suggested a few bars with live bands. Any feedback on either of these places? Or I'm open for suggestions if you have other ideas. I thought I would check here since you guys would be closer to the same age and similar interests.

Honestly I went as a sub 21 year old so I am not up so much in the bar scene! But they seem like pretty cool places to go. I know the food trucks are big down there but not sure what sort of merchandise they have regarding that.
If he's new to Texas some stereotypical Texan stuff might be funny, cowboy boots, cowboy hat, belt buckle... Help him fit in. Sorry I couldn't be of more help | "So, uh, what are we saying here? If we save LA from a nuclear bomb, then you and I can get together for dinner and a movie?"

Was there for a week last year, like Vern said you just walk down the street and find some bar with nice music, didn't go to either of those places, but if he likes BBQ, there are some legendary places there (apparently Obama went to one of them (Franklin Barbecue) to fistbump people and get some sweet, sweet bbq).
Also if he wears something cowboy-ish people will think he is retarded, Austin is only geographically in Texas.
I went to their eat-in cinema which is apparently the first one made, it was pretty sweet (and it's in the center of town so it could be a nice way to start his night), might be a good gift. | |
