USA Mens Basketball falls to 0-2 so far in there 5 game exhibition tuneup before the Olympics. an 8 point loss to Australia today follows a 3 point loss to Nigeria in the opening game. a few minor notes: the US team is without Booker, Middleton and Holiday well they finish up the finals. Australia is without Ben Simmons who is taking time off to try and overcome his fear or shooting a basketball.

if people are putting their hopes in Middleton or Holliday to turn around that team's fortunes that's a v bad sign

I think they’ll be fine for the Olympics my guess is they exhibition games aren’t giving them the rush to really turn it on

I can’t imagine a team with that much talent not getting a medal and really not winning it all.

they are backups. Booker is the player they are really missing. thought honestly they just need some time playing together. the teams they have been playing against have had most or all of there players playing together multiple times a year for 5+ years. the US team has idk maybe 5 players that were on the 2019 world cup team together.

after a few hours to celibate beating a weak Argentina team (they legit play (start?) 40 year old Luis Scola) USA Basketball losses Bradly Beal to Covid. this is a fairly big blow as Beal was in the mix for the starting SG spot.

and now Kevin Love withdraws as he was not able to get to his peak physical level in time. Keldon Johnson is moving up to the main roster from the select team(the group of players the main team practices against). also being added and expected to join the team Saturday is JaVale Fibber McGee.

the top 8 or so players are going to have to really carry this team

The NBA playoffs are way too long. I lost interest a month ago. If this goes to 7, it’ll enter its 3rd month of just the playoffs. That’s insane.

They could easily play best of 5, and do back-to-backs for games 1-2 and 3-4 in each series with a travel day in between. Cut the 2+ months down to a much more manageable month, and maybe they could drive up some interest again.

its not normally this long i dont think. just with the limited time off the players have had since the bubble they are being more careful.

The playoffs lasted a full 2 months in 2019, so the only difference here is they started a month or so later than normal.

I think they are this long usually. I'm invested still cause i don't dislike either team but i picked the Bucks before the playoffs so going with that

well sadly they will never get shorter. less games per round means less money and that will never happen. maybe the regular season will get cut down to 72 games again but be offset with the play in tournament becoming permanent and maybe some other gimmick.
