There are two versions of the song I selected. The version on the Spotify list is the one I wanted. It's the original. The one on the GooglePlay list is the version made many, many years later.
Googleplay has 2 different versions so I swapped it out. Hope it's the one you wanted.
I listened to Wikey's song, it was first on the shuffle, and he finally did it. He makes me miss Mittens's song choices. My god that was awful, but then Vernon's song followed it. Driving my car off a bridge was an option.
I should rephrase that btw, it was featured on the soundtrack to TWBB, it wasn't written for the film. So that copyright has been infringed once already!
Steal my Sunshine made it’s way into my Spotify 2019 most played list the other week Sock. Idk why, I just rediscovered it a few months ago and listened to it a bunch. I’m not ashamed to love this song
Watch/listen to the cover by Charly Bliss on YouTube. I found it super grating at first and I think most hate it but it grew on me so fast. Disappointing lack of butter tarts tho
Claire Fontaine - Good again, I'm beginning to like Hawksley Workman, Christian.
United States of Whatever - Sounds like 'Somethin Else' by Eddie Cochran with all the good parts taken away
If Before I Wake - Crappy intro. Gets better. Sounds like MGMT. Good, I liked it.
Eggshell - Perfect music for a depressing day. Not so much if you want to partay. The use of electronic loops and samples instead of a real drummer gives them an interesting and unique sound.
KILL4ME - NOT4ME
Pu Komst etc etc - Is this Icelandic? Did Merc suggest this? Trying to imagine what this would sound like in English. Sounds a bit boring tbh. Why haven't you suggested a Bjork song yet Merc?
Listen, Those Lost at Sea Sing a Song on Christmas Day - What a title. The intro sounds like Echoes by Pink Floyd which is very cool. Goes downhill from there for me though. Disappointed because I thought this had potential during the intro.
Black Water - Haven't listened to much of the Doobie Brothers, this is nice.
Mama Were All Crazee Now - Damn the original version by Slade is so much better Havo. Dunno if you've heard it, so here you go:
Also this is one of Slade's weaker songs imo, but still catchy.
Slip Away - I don't know what to make of this one, it's weird. It's interesting but I kind of hate it.
Steal My Sunshine - Sounds like Doctor Who at the start. Quickly descends into generic 90s party people talking about cheering up their friends, these guys probably have skateboards. Then this guy starts singing a feel good melody over a cliche chord progression in a husky voice. Then a girl starts singing about someone stealing her sunshine, and some cheesey electronic effects start playing. Then the two skateboard nerds have a converstaion about the girl which is filled with innuendo, something about her having sex last night maybe? Maybe not though. Then the girl sings the next verse. Can't make out what she's saying but it's probably not that interesting anyway. Chorus again. The rest of the song progresses this way and they can't think of a way to end it so they just fade it out. Just when you think it's all over a record scratch comes out of nowhere and some black guys are doing some hip hop stuff.
Liked this playlist. Might have to listen to this one again before voting as there are quite a few contenders for my favs here.
Wikey of course I’ve heard the original. Lol. It’s great but I like this version just as much due to that rocking piano and a 19 year old Joan Jett singing lead. Not to mention the rest of the Runaways.
Pu Komst etc etc - Is this Icelandic? Did Merc suggest this? Trying to imagine what this would sound like in English. Sounds a bit boring tbh. Why haven't you suggested a Bjork song yet Merc?
