I give it an eight. It's such a solid movie, and a real gut punch.

Oh man.

ANYWAY, I gave it an 8. Very good movie! I got distracted a little in the middle but otherwise it was a great film. Probably the highest rating from me of all the FE watches i've watched

What a relief and shit.

It was interesting watching this with a group, I've never watched this movie with another person before despite it being one of my favorite movies ever because it always makes me super emotional. This was one of the main reasons I selected it despite already seeing it. I'm almost always in tears from the moment Ricky starts walking to the other end of the alley to Tre shutting the door at the end.

I haven't seen this movie in a few years but that last half hour still hit me very hard. The violence coming so senselessly and suddenly is so ridiculously sad to watch. The livingroom scene with Ricky's body always absolutely KILLS me. Seeing that family just completely fall apart like that. The cycle never ends. The ending with Dough and Tre in particular is such a strong scene. We get so much hope that Dough is going to turn around for the better and then that fadeout ;_; Fuck.

Also, consider the following: John Singleton was only 23 when he made this. This was Cuba's first starring role and Ice Cube's and Morris Chestnut's debut acting roles. That is always crazy to me.

Here, five minutes later it looks like one of the bags exploded on him.

The leaves on his head cracked me up. So cartoonishly great. Just imagine the director’s decision to have them sprinkle some leaves on there

He just sprinkled some on when he went inside to try to get some sympathy.
