Toy Story 3 is just “hey 90s kids don’t you remember watching these movies when you were little? Isn’t it sad that all your favorite toys are going to die in an incinerator? lol jk” Yup totally not contriving scenes to play at your heartstrings. Recycle the villain motivation from Toy Story 2, throw in some racial stereotypes for Buzz Lightyear and boom, universal acclaim.

Hey this thread ended on a really shitty note.

This is finally on Disney+ now which is nice for people like me who have not yet seen it.

Not adding anything too new compared to what was already said for my thoughts. I wasn't expecting much with this at all and I went in wanting to hate Forky, based off my extremely biased opinion of fucking around with the Toy Story 4 toys that didn't sell during Christmas. But I thought it was quite good! I typically don't mind sequels and even though 3 had a perfect ending, I still think this was a good addition to the series and even more complete way to end it. I see it as 3 being Andy's ending and 4 being the toy's ending. Found it fun the whole through and the new characters were all great.

I finally saw this and didn’t think I could be more sad than I was after Toy Story 3, but boy was it a tearjerker at the end.

Overall I think the movie was good but not great. I feel like it wasn’t a full complete story. And the “villain” was the worst of the bunch. Ending was very sad though.

Very sad ending. I agree with everything you said Dyl. They only made a 4th because they knew they could make a lot of money off of it

I saw this a month or so ago but hey I'm here now.

This movie suffered a bit from calling itself Toy Story 4 I think. It probably should have just been called Woody and people would know what to expect. Sheriff Woody? Can you call a movie Woody?

Where 3 tried to justify every minor character being along for the ride 4 just literally has everyone just be along for the car ride. Jessie does maybe 1 thing worth mentioning all movie and without a way to make Buzz revert to TS1 mode they just opted to make him stupid in general I guess.

New characters are fun but Gabby is way to similar to Lotso and the her minions while initially scary probably would have been funnier if they had actual characters.

Bo being back was really good in fact I also watched the midquel short about how she ended up there and that itself could have been the movie if they had the stones.

And Forky is nice. I like the character and he's great in the little Disney+ show and just the concept of him alone is really intriguing makes you wonder why more things that aren't toys aren't alive in a similar way if kids imagine and play with innane things all the time.

But the thing I really don't care for is the ending. It just felt like this was written as just another side story in a long run of side stories and then right before they were done they somehow got a conscience and said you know what fuck sequels this is the End of Woody! So instead of just ending and doing the status quo they have this rushed ending where Woody decides to leave all of his friends Including Buzz just like that. And everyone is just ok with it because it's the finale and Woody has his girlfriend and his new lot in life is giving kids Fair Toys which they will probably play with maybe 2 minutes then throw away.

But I digress. It just sort of seemed like a pretty standard affair of a movie which had a Big Emotional goodbye slapped on the end without much way of making that work in the movie itself.

But still not a bad movie or anything just not anywhere in the league of the other 3
