I rarely find actual horror movies scary. I also dislike most pure horror flics. It's just not my thing. Once in a while a great one comes along that is actually plausible. Clowns are creepy af. Demon clowns in sewers that morph and swallow little kids are just silly. Serial killers are scary. Serial killers who wear hockey masks and can apparently distort to time to catch people who are proceeding at a dead run while they shambles at a snails pace ate not scary. Global viral outbreaks are scary. Outbreaks that create brain eating undead are not.
I do like a good zombie movie, though, as long as it doesn't take itself seriously. | | |

I'm really trying to think of other horror stuff that scares me, but the only thing really standing out is an episode of Are You Afraid Of The Dark, but I can't even remember which episode it was. I think it involved a kid being trapped and cursed or something and there was no real resolution so there was a lingering "and they were never saved and trapped forever" sort of thing.
Don't like that lack of resolution. Kill them or save them and I'm cool with it, but a lingering conflict sticks with me
I think horror doesn't bother me too much because my family are all big true crime fans and I used to watch America's Most Wanted and Unsolved Mysteries ever since I was a toddler. |
