Also no offense to the OP, but this is a question you aren't supposed to ask.

That's retarded.
If you're afraid to say who you voted for then you're a pussy

From the guy who won't ever vote and then will complain about the election results?

Man, you're right.
If only I voted then Hilldawg would be president

Because no decisions have ever come down to single vote being important. Oh wait, what happened here in Virginia a few weeks back?

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/politics-news/random-winner-drawing-tied-virginia-house-race-back-politicians-trade-n833511

Yep- tied race, which also was the determining race for whether Reps or Dems controlled the House of Delegates here. It literally became a random drawing of lots. The Reps won it and so they control the House of Delegates, all because somewhere in Virginia, one person didn't vote.

How can you have any pudding if you won't eat your meat?

Congratulations you find an outlier. Now take every election that takes place then find the percentage where one vote determines it. Spoiler: It is essentially impossible statistically for your vote to ever matter in a national election. Likely similar with a congressional election. Local/very small elections are where your vote have more impact

And just think if, say, 600 people in Florida had decided in 2000 to show up to the polls and vote Gore? 600 "I don't feel like it" people in the entire state of Florida who, through apathy, got us eight years of Dubya.

Yes, it effects local politics more, but why is that a bad thing? You definitely aren't showing up anyone by not voting at all. You are better off voting 3P to try to shake up the main parties than not voting at all.

You don't even want to know about the "hanging chad" controversy from that election.

The answer is- often they don't.

Localities handle balloting- at that same time period, my locality (Arlington County) had full electronic voting. Of course, that has its own issues (like hacking) so we now have physical ballots which are read by a machine. Personally, I think we could have kept the electronic, but had it print out a copy of the ballot that was confirmed by the voter and then put in a box.

In those areas in Florida, they had you punch holes in the ballots. The set up of the ballots were also really dumb (the single line down the middle making it harder to determine who you were voting for).

The single vote has much more stroke in the small and local elections. Those elections also impact your daily life much more than the national elections do.

I usually vote republican due to the industry I work in. My political beliefs are usually right down the middle. This year I refused to vote either of those giant turds and went 3P.

I vote 3p pretty regularly.

My big hope is that trump will scare the parties so bad that they either head back to center or go so far out there that the people will finally stop drinking that jungle juice they shit out.

One of my professors in undergrad was Gore’s national field manager in 2000 and he changed the subject immediately every time someone brought that election up in class.

I would add that it is happening more and more at the local level. I have also read that the dems will head further left in the 2018 elections.

Maybe, but I see a lot of older Dems backing the current center-right establishment folks, bitching about the " BernieBros as they like to discount the lefties. There is actually an older woman I know who keeps bitching about how the younger voters who backed Bernie "haven't earned a place".
