in any case I'm seeing this Sat, I'm maybe looking forward to it more than I was before (which was very very little)? Just because I'm really hoping for an entertaining mess, but realistically they'll probably play everything too safe for it to even be that
gotta say, after the first hour or so I was starting to wonder what all the fuss was about, I thought it was actually a p good first act. But boy oh boy did it get increasingly dumb after that

I should say I liked the first act with the big caveat of...the Palpatine of it all. What a DUMB plot point, the retconning to make that work was just laughable. Literally, what was this whole trilogy's point? To tidy up the loose end that Vader unknowingly left behind? Neat! Guess the whole Anakin redemption arc was for nothing in the end?
They definitely threw everything at the wall with this which I guess I can respect...it's just that almost none of it was original whatsoever or felt interested in telling a NEW story. The problems with TFA were amplified tenfold with this movie
The pacing was so fucking breakneck, it was insane how many planets they jumped between and how little worldbuilding they had time for on each. Once the plot got going there was so little time to BREATHE and think about anything that was going on
I wasn't a fan of Last Jedi but it's not because I hated the ideas in that movie, it's mostly that they seemed to pull back each time they were about to commit to an interesting story direction/development. But either way I totally see the criticism with this movie undoing basically that entire movie, LIKE IT OR NOT that was the 2nd movie in this trilogy and reverting that hurt this movie a lot. Shit like "When I said your parents were nobodies...it's cuz they HAD to be...but you didn't even think of your grandparents!" was...ugh. Rey being a nobody actually was one of the new directions I really liked out of Last Jedi so that reveal was very disappointing
The Leia stuff could've been worse but you could definitely tell how much they had to Frankenstein that dialogue together. I still don't get why they didn't kill her off when they had the perfect opportunity story-wise in the last movie, literally just cut out the floating through space scene
Baboo Frick ruled tho, best character of the trilogy ez
The real question is "how much worse will it be than Cats?"
if no one goes to see the movie cats, was it even made?
Don't worry, all the furries will
Man, don't put Brian's business out there like that.
Apparently they majorly fucked up and it's getting PATCHED today/tomorrow.
People are saying it's The Room level bad, I kind of want to see it but I don't want to pay them, can you flex it on Plex?
:)
