going Friday night. CAUTIOUSLY OPTIMISTIC
it sounds like it's not a complete clusterfuck from the reviews at least. But the first two Avengers were relatively well-reviewed too and I didn't care for either so WE'LL SEE |
That's what I'm worried about so many characters, it's 2 hours and 36 minutes though so maybe it'll be okay

Wow fantastic movie, they did so well with the each character, far better than I thought. Everyone had the right amount of humour, shock, sadness, empathy throughout the movie and all characters stuck to their personality.
Thor struck me the most, Hemsworth was great in it. |

ok so I was p drunk throughout so I might not have the most salient opinion on it. But I feel like it was....really mediocre?? To its credit the 2.5 hours flew by and felt like one hour, but at the same time I felt like hardly anything happened. It was just a fast track for Thanos getting the remaining infinity stones to get towards the ending. I feel like hardly any of the characters were serviced as well as they should be (which isn't entirely surprising but still)

It was A LOT. But in about the best way possible imo, with all those characters and all the plot points to hit, I don't feel like too much got the short end of the stick. Anxiously awaiting Part 2 | naonka : saus:: bill:

I always figured it to be a set up, and that's exactly how it was delivered
|
The Black Order were fairly tough minions, I expect a full scale battle with Thanos next movie with original crew and Captain Marvel, oh and Rocket |

Just got back from it
|
For some reason I had blocked out that it was Infinity War PART 1. That ... made the movie better for me? Like I forgot it was just a setup movie. And to its credit it did NOT feel like a setup movie to me. I loved every little quippy moment of the characters interacting for the first time and some of them building on their characters interactions from the previous movies. This isn't a standalone movie and its not meant to be. Its the pay off of 10 years of groundwork. And BOY was it worth it. It was such a satisfying ride. At one point I even found myself feeling bad for Thanos (as ridiculous as he was). The ending left me utterly speechless (that was moreso because I was expecting a happy ending and ... well an ending basically but it didn't end. It left me wanting more. That was a fucking blast. I'm probably gonna go watch it again tomorrow night. |

Now, this might be recency bias since I just saw this...but...yeah, that ruled. It was fun being in the theater with a bunch of people who were obviously into it (but obnoxiously, another group of people in front of me who thought this was Black Panther 2 and actively complained any time they cut away from Wakanda). But as for the movie itself, everything can all be summed up by the simple fact that
|
HOLY FUCK GUYS, THANOS ACTUALLY DID THE SNAP |
Part 2 is going to be fantastic.

You know Helios is scum when he summarizes everything and then adds to the discussion by picking out one random sentence someone says and writes an italicized diatribe about how it's curious and he really, REALLY wants to know more about it.
"What did you mean by this, though? You are eating a biscuit? A BISCUIT???? Seems a little farfetched to me. Really gonna need to hear more about this biscuit situation." | Yes
With some form of over the top, “Wait, what the actual fuck?!” thrown in
| A biscuit? Are you FUCKING KIDDING ME?
Say it with me... inactive biscuit is still biscuit. And my key to victory. |

Finally saw it.
|
It had some really great moments. Some of the less interesting characters disappeared into the background, but that's all fine with me.
It should've been longer, though. I wanted to see Thanos getting the Power Stone, but all in all, it was pretty solid.
I expected Thanos to win seeing as there's a part 2, but I DID NOT EXPECT a complete victory. I didn't think he would get the Time Stone in this movie. Such a good way to end it, though.
Red Skull returning was awesome, I'm curious what happened there tbh, or if there's more to it in the next film?
Drax delivered as always. |

Brian Tallerico ★½
Only exists to remind you of movies you liked in the past and prepare you for future ones they hope you like too. It is pure, soulless product with no identity of its own and even the action is dull. The end of the universe has never been so boring.
ty Brian Tallerico you nailed it

I thought it was exactly as disappointing as I was worried it would be
It wasn't offensively bad it was just horribly mediocre. With THAT amount of hype and work leading up to it..for it to be so average is such a shame. I've never seen such wasted potential
Throwing unlikely people from the MCU together for the first time is just not enough for me. It can be charming and make me go heh but that's it. That seemed to be enough for many people. My audience fucking LOST it at several scenes like that. Also when Stan Lee was revealed as Peter's bus driver my audience.fucking.HOWLED. They had never seen anything so funny. It was the best day of all their lives, they literally squealed and gave a round of applause and that was just the beginning. It was a single moment that summed up how easily Marvel can get away with this barely passable mediocrity
Also Thor getting an eye back is such a great analogy for what I hated about this. No consequences ever. This movie was all the stuff I hate about Marvel movies crammed into one final act. People were WEEPING at the ending. But...why? None of them except for boring Vision are dead so why are you crying, I really don't get it. People die all the time in these movies and come right back which I can't stand. This movie did that on a grander scale and asked you to care. It's so unsatisfying and meaningless
They should've stuck with the original title of Part I to really remind people that this is just the set up, because that's all it was. Thanos just goes from place to place and gets the stones and that's the only point of the movie. The real sacrifices should come in part two (of the Iron Man/Captain America variety) but until then they really wussed out with this one. I read a bunch of stuff about how it pulled no punches and how audiences weren't ready for how emotionally draining it is. HUH??? The whole movie was one big pulled punch
There were three scenes in a row that I really liked in the middle. I think it was...Star Lord meets Iron Man and co, Thor with Rocket/Groot, and Star Lord again with Iron Man when they were planning. Drax still outshines everyone. I made that post earlier about how there's so much talent in the MCU but Dave Bautista out of all people may outshine them all and it was so true here, he killed it. "How long have you been standing there?" "One hour." He was great. GotG remain the best, their scenes were easily the most enjoyable
I did roll my eyes at yet another hero on hero fight scene that they had to find a way to cram in there. Iron Man vs Star Lord! Spiderman vs ...Nebula! Only good bit was Drax vs. Doctor Strange's cape

Thor>Infinity War. That's hilarious
13th out of 19 and my least favorite out of the mediocre ones |
