I don't think it's a race thing, I think you just imagine the character in a particular way and a new take on the character doesn't feel like the same one anymore. It depends from character to character to me.

Colossus is straight in the main universe and gay in another. If they made a film and went with the gay version I'd be annoyed because then he can't have a relationship with shadowcat. Oh my god I guess I'm a homophobe

That... Sounds terrible. Ultimate was great because it seemed everything had weight and finality to it... Someone died and they stayed dead. Mixing it with 616 just seems bad.

Marvel is altering their comics due to the success of the movies. They are even changing character costumes so they are more movie friendly. It's irritating in some ways. I understand their marketing move but it's risky

i have read the comics but this is a reboot set in a different universe than the comics. Sometimes when continuities change so do certain characteristics. Is it really so bad that a white guy is a black guy now? He's going to be fucking Orange for at least half the damn movie. Prince of Persia starred a white guy. Exodus starred white people. They made Tonto in the new Lone Ranger movie into a white guy. The movie 21 is based on a true story about Asian card counters but the movie stars Jim Strugess... and those are real people not just fiction. There is a white girl playing Tiger Lily in the new Peter Pan movie. How many times have they cast Jesus as a fucking white guy? lol

Ya those other examples are just as bad as this. Whats dumb is that its bad when people whitewash characters in media but have a double standard about white characters. Id rather they just put in a totally different super hero than just change one. Hell id love to see marvel pull a Miles Morales with tge FF and just have new people diversify/refresh that team.

I think the more egregious part of this casting is that they cast Michael B. Jordan first, and instead of casting a black female Sue Storm, they threw in a white girl and said she was adopted.
