people seem pretty CLEAR that Rust did it. Was it ever explicitly stated in the show (not by the interviewers), and not just hinted at? I was reading a review and it acted as if Rust was CLEARLY IMPLICATED. |

Nah definitely not. Pretty sure we're supposed to be kept guessing at that. If he was clearly implicated at some point then it went over my head (:

Yeah that's just what the two investigators are presuming right now. Definitely hasn't been proven

Another great ep. I'm kinda surprised how little investigating this episode actually had after last week though. Obviously the scenes we got with Reverend/mental hospital girl/Tuttle were pretty huge though
The revelation of Marty/Rust's split was great. Marty's an IDIOT for not deleting those messages though!
That parking lot fight was BRUTAL. Especially that initial takedown. And you could tell Rust was really holding back the whole time. He could've fucked Marty up
AND HOLY SHIT BETH IS HOT! Woody Harrelson has gotten so lucky on this show (: |

see on one hand I like to believe that all these CLUES are pointing to a grand conspiracy but they're more likely easter eggs.
|
Episode was great ofc. They have quite the STANDARD OF EXCELLENCE so far. Loved how Marty got back into OLD HABITS so quickly, and with somebody he knows to be damaged. Maggie's line about his not knowing who he was was great.
The way they had to shift the interview structure meant there wasn't much Rust in the episode but I think that worked well. Seeing him exclusively in the flashbacks meant that certain scenes (like the interrogation of the woman) were even more intense. I imagine there won't be much more in the way of flashbacks given that Maggie was the only non-Rust/Marty character of any importance.
Also MARTY I JUST BLEW THE CASE WIDE OPEN |

and I know some might think it was irrelevant but some of my favorite scenes
|
the opening when Marty beat the shit out of the guys and then the dinner scene in the HART household, and then when he almost hit Maggie. All of them were just great shows of his utterly toxic personality. |

Great episode. Definitely a different tone from the last two. Last week's episode filled me with DREAD. This one was more about putting the pieces in place to set up for the finale it seems
My favorite scene might've been Marty in his living room. Hupu nailed it when he said that + beating the two kids showed how toxic his personality is. He came across as such a pig in the living room scene to me
Anyone could've called Maggie cheating on Marty with Rust early on I think. It was built up to pretty nicely. Rust's reaction and kicking her out was good too
The parking lot fight was really great. It took me a minute to realize why they lingered on Rust's broken tail light at the end for so long. It broke when Rust threw Marty into it and he hasn't bothered to fix it. HOW SYMBOLIC!!
They did a great job of setting up for the present day Rust/Marty meetup too. In earlier episodes I was hoping to see them back together in the present. By the end of this episode I was DREADING IT! So much went south in their relationship so quickly over an episode. Really looking forward to those scenes next week |

regarding Maggie
|
I felt like her fucking Rust was INEVITABLE and kind of dreaded it because it felt like a soapy turn for the show, but it worked because of how UNSEXUAL it was. Almost like it was responding to criticisms of MISOGYNY regarding Marty's sex scenes. It reminded me of when Rust was dancing with that girl at the bar, and never seemed to enjoy himself, always keeping her away. I still like how incapable he is of connecting with others. |

Episode 7
|
Another great one. Lots of stuff finally coming together. I like that we got a case heavy episode just before the finale
- Really really loved the scene showing Rust and Marty's daily, miserable lives. Marty on Match.com and eating shitty dinner by himself, losing touch with his two kids almost completely. Rust working at the worst bar I've ever seen. The two of them talking about how they "keep busy" while those shots played was really well done. Made me really feel for the two of them. First time I've felt bad for Marty really
- The scene with the elderly lady in her home about Carcosa(?) was creepy as hell to me for whatever reason
- Baby in the microwave and the video tape that Marty had to watch, horrific
- THE LAWNMOWER MAN! This fucker from earlier: http://starcasm.net/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/True_detective_Lawnmower_Man_Errol_scar.jpg . I'm not let down by this. The green ears in the drawing are theorized to be the green headphones that lawnmowers tend to wear while working. Kinda clever. I liked that we had seen the scarred man before too
- I had a feeling that the sheriff character would come back into play, only because he's played by a good actor. It's the warden from Orange is the New Black. He's really good on that show. He made the briefest appearance back in like the first episode of this. Him and Rust got in a fight and he was never seen again I think. I had wondered why they would only bring him in for that. Rust and Marty having him at gun point by the end was good

I know season two is an all new story with all new characters etc, but I'd like to see a show staring the two detectives who have been interviewing them. It was nice to see them cruising around together. Reminded me of Rust/Marty
I heard a rumor that season two is about a pair of female detectives tho

OH SHIT EPISODE 7
|
yeah Curtis that scene showing their normal lives was amazing. The music in particular helped a lot, it was very drone-y and hypnotic. I love how HOPELESS they are now, after the job has ruined them.
The whole episode was great. I know it's never been wholly about the case, but this episode showed that the show could have been brilliant as a procedural if it wanted to be. The focus on it, and of course the fucked up shit it involves, was weirdly INVIGORATING, maybe because the show's never been this focused.
Great character interaction too. Scenes like the one with the sheriff or Ledoux's cousin are what help make the show for me.
ALSO another reference to Carcosa? I wonder where it's all gonna go (: |

I'm 1 & a half episodes in...something like that....and I totally dig it. but, is woody harrelson the killer? that can't be it. the accomplice? both scenarios would be too lame of a twist and too foreseeable wouldn't it? | "There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. Some kind of high powered mutant never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die."
