The ACA is a complete joke of a broken compromise that proved the dems never gaf about anything but lip service once the sigs had their say.
This is an even more blatant example of the exact same behaviour from the inept pubbies.
I mean 7 years and you vomit out some bullshit that had just enough effort behind it to have been dreamed up and scribbled down while waiting in line at a drive-thru.
The pubs now have a couple of years to bolster the ACA and give it some much needed fixes. Instead, they will wash their hands of it altogether.
The pubs effort doesn't even cater to a Sig as far as I can tell. It looks like straight up arse covering and vote grubbing in attempt to ride the wave of dissent Obama's bait and switch created. Sad,sad, sad.

Yep, I agree- the compromise to get the Blue Dog Dems on board took out some of the key things that made ACA shine (like the national marketplace and public option). But it did require many things that are beneficial (like getting insurance for pre-existing conditions) and the premium hikes mainly happened in places where the Rep Governors didn't accept expanded Medicaid payments as a "protest" (thus adding people to the insurance pool without offsetting $$, driving up premiums).
I'd rather move to single payer and cut out all the extra HR dollars and wasted time spent on negotiating plans, educating employees on plans, etc. The amount of time and effort spent by businesses on insurance plans is ridiculous. It's why even conservative businessmen in Canada look at their US counterparts and laugh at them.
How can you have any pudding if you won't eat your meat?

SP for basic care with supplemental insurance available would be Ok with me, too. Until we are out from under the thumbs of the 2 party profiteers, I have zero faith in their ability to pull it off.
The pubby proposal was like something out of a dystopian novel.
Actually, my personal plan is a bit more beyond the base SP plan, but essentially is something along the following:
1) Catastrophic care: covered 100% no copay, no deductible
2) Everyone else is given a set amount of "care" based on their situation, i.e., a pregnant woman needs more doctor visits than a 20 year old. There would be a low copay and again, no deductible. The amount of visits could be determined from all the actuarial data we have out there already. Again, stuff like cancer or other items falls under catastrophic care, so this is more sick and wellness visits.
3) Anything beyond your "allotted" care is 100% out of pocket. This limits hypochondriacs. This also means people will think before they go off to doctor- do I need to use one of my visits, knowing I'll have x minus one visits left for the year? You won't have people with a cold going to the doctor unless it was severe, since they wouldn't want to use a visit, cutting back on some of the over demand that we currently have that helps drive up costs.
I have a lot more details, but this helps address many of the market failures our system is built upon and addresses the fact that more HC is demanded than is economically efficient.
