I think we used to call that "Corn Chip Chili Pie Casserole" but my wife, being from Ohio and thus hating anything that has the word casserole in it, required me to change the name to "Corn Chip Chili Cheese Stuff".
It's really just a baked nacho/chili fusion. |
Frito pie is a thing around here. It's just corn chips with chili and cheese on it. It's not really layered like a casserole, though. |
The way we make it is you essentially cook up some chili or, if you are especially lazy, a can of chili. Then you layer tortilla chips in a cooking dish, cover with shredded cheese (or as I call it, "sprinkle cheese"). Pour some of the hot chili over it. Then another layer of chips, layer of cheese, chili, and so on until you have a final layer of chips and cheese on top. Bake for about 15 minutes.
The inside melds together into the gooey yummy mess while the top layer of chips stay crispy for a bit of crunch. |
Sounds pretty good. Frito pie is Ball game food at most high school events in the area.

During my daily lap swim today I came up for air to rest in between sets and caught the lady in the lane next to me say the words "mmmm and with a double layer of Dijon mustard too," to the man she was sharing a lane with and I almost threw up right then and there into her lane. | "All this from a slice of gabagool?" |

I like mustard. Brown, yellow, horseradish, chili pepper, course, fine, I like em all.
I'm kind of an onion ring snob. If you are talking onion rings from chili's, rib crib, outback, sonic, or most chain places, it's a hard thumbs down. If they are homemade with a crispy batter, I'm all in.

Just caught up
My favorite food tbh but it can easily go so wrong
It's fine but pointless when you can have other flavors. Like vanilla
On the list of things I'll give a few bites if I'm at a wedding or something but otherwise forget it
|
Vanilla coke is disgusting, black cherry vanilla must be worse? |
Incorrect vanilla coke is delicious
Garlic is the one thing that you can add to things I like plain that I won't whine about
Assuming this means a jello poke cake i love those. If this is one of those annoying jello and whipped cream and whatever else creations someone always makes for the 4th of July... Nah.
|
I kinda assumed you were pairing the two. But if we're talking straight-up lemons then I'm onboard |
