I accidentally riled up my grandma by calling her out on dropping her part of a class action suit that she keeps complaining about telling her she just dropped her rights to complain. Then I came upstairs and she's ranting to my mom who's over and doesn't know about any of this and my mom is trying to passively side/agree with my grandma but keeps using the wrong halfhearted platitudes to chime in with which keeps riling up my grandma more. We both need to work on our "yeah uh-huh" game.

So my dad is a truck driver and he's been working at the same place for over 30 years and he knocks down over 100k a year.
Every winter his company asks for volunteers to take lay offs during the winter because that's their slow time although noone ever volunteers because then they have to go on unemployment and make a fraction of what they actually make when theyre working. So when noone volunteers they usually lay off the guys with the lowest seniority.
WELLLLL last year my dad decided to take a lay off because he makes more than enough money to support himself and my mom even on unemployment and he didn't have to work for like 2 fucking months during the winter.
He decided to do that again this year, the only problem with that being they changed all of unemployment application bullshit to online forms (makes sense) but my Dad barely knows how to use a computer.
Usually what he does when he has an issue like this is call someone on the "help line" or whatever and bitch and complain until they do it for him.
Well he called me today and I had to walk him through getting into his online account because he couldnt figure it out. He had already called the help line and got "some nasty black bitch that was all like "lemme axe you sumpin" and shit.
He went on a ten minute rant about the nasty black bitch before I could even start to walk him through shit.... he doesnt even know how to open a web browser.
When I started reading the story I was starting to get worried that it was about him being laid off this winter without having a say since he took it last year...and how he wanted/needed to work those two months this year.
Kind of glad it ended with just computer illiteracy tbh. Though, I do think that everyone should be forced to sit down and take some courses on computer basics at this point. It makes things easier for all of us.
Okay well, I paid $1.60 per gallon for gas last night. I just remembered. It was .50 cents off per gallon because of my Safeway Club Card discount but, still. That's the lowest I remember in forever.
