I think the rules state only lynch or claim protects you against environmental damage.

Confused myself :)

But still, NL vs voting or claiming an item. NL typically does not help town.

I'm glad that they aren't claiming the Hammer. That should only be going to someone we are relatively sure of being town, and also someone who has been paying attention.

But yeah, no lynch is an odd choice over smashing.
