Also the other day i watched Scary Godmother: The Revenge of Jimmy, which i thought was also good, maybe even in a similar way to Batman 1989, not afraid to get very exaggerated and silly

interesting, I actually watched the Burton Batman movies for the first time relatively recently and did not dig them at all, I even felt like Nicholson's Joker was kinda...bad? Guess I'm just used to the Ledger and Phoenix interpretations that came after and if I'd seen that first I would've dug it more

Batman Returns was more fun though, if you liked Batman '89 you'll probably love that. Penguin/Catwoman >>>

I just love comical Joker over the whole we live in a society Joker angle. I honestly don't remember Nicholson's Joker well enough to defend it specifically though. I still think of the 90s animated series Joker when I think of my favorite interpretation.

I basically burnt out a bit on the We Live In A Society type Joker (or probably moreso burnt out on seeing hype about it on random corners of the internet) so even though Nicholson was a bit too silly at times it was a breath of fresh air to see a very different take on the character that was still believably threatening.

I think it helps that this movie fit a lot of things I've been interested in in movies lately (that specific brand of late 80s gothic, movies with weird or purposefully unrealistic special effects, odd tone shifts or inconsistencies, older movies with strong stylistic choices)

I'm a suckered for movies with people with disabilities. Woody Harrelson and Kaitlyn Olsen do a really good job here. Was a feel good movie. The girl was hilarious

Hellraiser III

This might be where I exit the franchise. This one was solid (some great kills) but I hear it falls off a cliff real soon. ZERSCH! Are any future ones worth it? Did you ever check out the reboot from last year?

i thought the reboot was p fun compared to the original. and you get to see marcia roy!

Frankenstein 1931- always interesting watching movies this old. LOVED the atmosphere of it, theres a few parts where you can tell the sky behind the actors is a curtain but it actually really adds to the scene somehow. Big fan of that

Fun watch, really funny to look it up after and see how controversial the movie and different scenes were at the time

OG Frankenstein was pretty great. You should watch Invisible Man and Creature from the Black Lagoon, definitely my favorite three of the Universal monster movies

House of Wax (1953) - wanted to watch something different and spooky leading into halloween and noticed that was free with ads on youtube. P GOOD! A lot of strong parts, but also some parts that felt a little superfluous or not quite the Vibe. Had a really great time tho

Valley of the Lanterns - kinda silly circumstances led to me watching this random kid's movie on Halloween instead of a Halloween movie. Very strange mismatched art direction, but it was interesting, different, 6/10 but an interesting 6/10
