Watched French Dispatch last night to get my yearly dose of Wes Anderson. Extremely well made but I think maybe a little too try hard which made the story lack.

that movie kinda confirmed to me that Wes Anderson isn't my thing. Although I'll keep watching his movies cuz I do appreciate the craftsmanship, I just don't connect with them at all

Moonrise Kingdom still slaps tho

This was the most Wes Anderson’y of them all though. So much narration and using big words and long sentences with alliteration it was hard to follow.

Moonrise Kingdom, Life Aquatic, Royal Tennenbaums and Darjeeling Limited are all amazing. So is Fantastic Mr Fox

Rushmore and Bottle Rocket are very good. Isle of Dogs I liked.

Grand Budapest Hotel and French Dispatch didn’t do it for me

Mass - really great. About two sets of parents who meet years after one of their son’s kills the other in a school shooting

Boiling Point - single take movie about working in a hectic restaurant kitchen. Good stuff

The Alpinist - Free Solo adjacent movie about a guy who’s crazier than Alex. Free solos snowy and icy peaks, p crazy

The Lost Daughter. Olivia Coleman is always incredible, but this was a particularly good performance from her. This will almost certainly be nominated for an Oscar.

I haven't watched it, but Olivia Colman is good in everything I've seen her in.

This afternoon I watched A Streetcar Named Desire, all the way from 1951. lol It's amazing that we're able to enjoy films like this from 70 years ago. I didn't know much except for the very basic premise, a woman visiting her sister and husband, and "STELLA!", but it didn't go the way I was expecting, at all. Times have changed obviously, but I enjoyed it and this film is included in all the best movie lists for a reason. The set looked like the set of a play, which I'm sure was on purpose lol. Once in a while, I'll feel like watching a classic from way back to see what all the fuss is about. :P

2 movies in one day for me! That is extremely rare. Olivia Colman fantastic as always. The movie was good, I feel like I might have been expecting more though.
