5th is ok though- I like it better than the bogged down 3.5/Pathfinder stuff.
What's your THAC0?
I loved AD&D but 5th feels old school enough to tick the box.
Pathfinder didn't float my boat and 4th ed was a mess.
Also, you are in the mafia game on FFA. Blame ahoda. You might want to go and check it and you will have a role PM.
THAC0 wasn't introduced until the 2nd Edition.
I understand wanting to expand the skill/proficiency system and all that, but sometimes the ease of the original system was just awesome. PLus we didn't have this PC "rogues" shit, but had thieves and assassins.
I did create an alternate magic system for the original, though, using more of a Rolemaster magic points system to determine how much magic you could do each day, going from using the magic points to, when those ran out, hit points. Meant you could keep using magic beyond your point total, but then you started hurting yourself and either eventually hurt or even killed yourself if it was important enough to cast.
How can you have any pudding if you won't eat your meat?
