Lupus? Damn. That’s terrible.

So many of us take our health for granted.

I lost my grandfather today.

It wasn't incredibly surprising when I was told he passed, he's been in bad shape for a long time. However, I never, ever expected it to end the way it did. He shot himself in the head shortly after talking to my dad on the phone where he was talking complete nonsense.

This one hurts me severely hard. I have dealt with death before, but never on this level. My family has always been very distant. I'm only really close with my parents and that's it. So death has never hit me hard. But I was close to my grandfather growing up and in the last few years, he's helped me out a lot. Every time we travel back to the east coast, we always made a point to see him. I was able to see him one last time in October and had a nice visit along with my dad, who has had a rocky relationship with him since he was a teenager. And it's a nice final memory to have with him.

But man. This sucks. And the absolute worst part about it is that I currently have the funds necessary to take a trip to NY with my dad and see his funeral. And I intended on taking a bereavement and doing it. But because of all the shit going on with corona, he won't even get a funeral. Fucking shitty.

In the latest entry of everyone I went to school with dies.

Apparently a guy I graduated with shot and killed a girl I went to school with during a domestic violence spat today. It's really fucking jarring to see a story like this pop up and then to recognize the names in the story. I was friends with the girl's older sister a hundred years ago in another life, but not with either party directly involved here. But I am friends with lots of people who were very close to them so it's painful to have to watch them go through this and try to make sense of it.

Always hoped I could avoid this topic, but fuck me here we go.

My grandma passed away on Monday. Completely out of the blue. The time between "something might be wrong" to "she's gone" was basically an hour and a half. It's possible she had Corona, but we have no idea since her nursing home, which is proving to be an absolute piece of shit, doesn't want to tell our family anything other than "a test was done, we'll have results in a week".

And all I've been feeling the past days is guilt. Guilt that I didn't see her more. Guilt that I didn't call her more. The guilt is the worst part, even more than the grief. Don't put off calling those you love and letting them know. Fucking Corona makes it harder to see them, but make sure your loved ones know you love them. Make sure.
