Annihilation 2018 3/10
First 45 minutes decent, just enough to keep you hanging in there. Last 45 minutes it starts heading downhill and picks up speed as it goes. Just keeps getting worse and worse til it crashes and literally burns. Lol.
Reminded me of every sci fi movie I ever seen where the ending was so bad it ruined whatever goodwill they had built up to it.

That movie is terrible dude. “We’ve sent multiple teams into this unknown area that is expanding and seems to be of alien origin, that immediately lose contact and sight and only one person has ever returned and he was basically a Zombie.” So let’s send a team of 4 academics, a Psychologist who’s dying with Cancer, an anthropologist, a linguist and a biologist. Only one has any military training and that was 15 years ago. Let’s give them all fully automatic weapons and nothing else. No secondary comms, no biohazard gear, no oxygen, no training of any kind just M16s and tents.
How about we tie a rope to a dude and send him in 10 feet at a time. Lol. Nah, just send a crew, we got unlimited people willing to die, oh wait, let’s send these 4 super smart women.

Raya and the Last Dragon - 7/10 🍿
|
The character Raya was great. The kingdoms and locales looked beautiful. Not a bad story. Some great themes! Fun going from place to place and seeing the world. But the ending, Idk. Felt rushed to me and a little unearned. What real alternative was there other than doing what they did? They were trusting her to what... not let herself die? The whole "trust" thing didn't really work given the decisions Namaari had made throughout the movie up to that point, but I did like what they were trying to do. They could've done that better though. That and the two big bads ending up being something akin to war criminals and not ending up imprisoned for their actions was... a little jarring.
The dragon coming back to life was also not what I would've liked to see. More consequences and all that, but it felt very Disney in the moment and I was fine with it. I'm sure it brought many a tear to people's eyes. The two big bads just shirking all responsibility for what had happened and being free at the end was the main thing that felt off to me. |

When I was a kid I'd play that 007 game where you had laser mines, a snow lodge, ski lifts, one guy throwing hats, etc. map you could play with friends and murder each other. Fun times! Then there was the n64 goldeneye game after that one I think, maybe ps1. My memory is the worst. |
that's like my only experience with James Bond. I can't remember which video game it was though.
(edit: it was Everything Or Nothing. And it was really fun.)

Ahoda if you actually watch the movie they explain that they did all the math and science behind all of the antics. 100% legit. | "So, uh, what are we saying here? If we save LA from a nuclear bomb, then you and I can get together for dinner and a movie?"

I watched Greenland last night. It was good. End of the world situation where things just got more and more dire. The stress! Anyway, it's on Prime and stars Gerard Butler and Morena Baccarin. I would watch anything she's in lol And it's actually why I gave this movie a shot.

I'm watching The Tomorrow War right now (today :P ).
Typical summer blockbuster type sci-fi action film starring Chris Pratt. Pretty entertaining. It's a little long on the runtime but there weren't any scenes I could see them cutting to make it shorter.
