Since some of you asked me to update: I’ve got an apparently pretty rare anterior mediastinum germ cell tumor. Started chemo yesterday and will have several rounds of 5 days of inpatient chemo then 3 weeks off. At the end I’ll need surgery to clean out what is left. Hopefully that will get it all but if not, maybe some radiation of chemo to clean up anything they can’t get.
If all goes well and according to plan, hopefully I’d be done with treatment by the end of the year. This isn’t exactly how I planned to spend my 2019, but I am optimistic about the treatment and prognosis. And I made it through the first day of chemo and still feel pretty good, so that’s something. I appreciate the thoughts, prayers and well wishes.

My uncle (not the one I've mentioned before) tried to commit suicide last night. He's in ICU and in a coma, on a ventilator and they don't know if he's going to wake up.
He's bipolar, and recently had been having all kinds of problems because he was kept on lithium for so long with his levels untested until it was killing him, so they had to switch his medications and he's been badly depressed ever since. His daughter just visited with her new baby. Just left on Thursday.
It's an awful situation. We won't know for about 24-48 hours. | d ( i n o s r o a ) r
