Hugh wiffs his first attack, but manages to strike the second time. A billow of smoke puffs from the area he strikes. The Mephit definitely looks... weaker. The thickness of its body and the smoke is lighter, but it is still standing.

Alia wanted to fight, but as the shapechanger sprinted away for a third time, she realized this creature could not be caught in her current state. She could not reach it and still have the energy to attack. The dark sky loomed over head and the shapechanger seemed in total control of it.
Alia had planned for such a situation, however, and had made sure she remained within reach of her base of operations. If it wanted to fight, it could come to her. She remembered the first creature she had killed, and how it had come from the shadows beneath the stairs in the ruined tower.

Wolphorio notices the pair fighting to his North and cocks his head to the side. This appears to be a battle between a skeleton and... a puff of smoke? He wasn't really sure what to make of the situation. Why would two of the monsters in this arena be fighting eachother?
Then he heard the Skeleton speak the words 'Please die...', and Wolphorio's curiosity was peaked even further. It occured to him that perhaps the skeleton isn't a monster but a fellow competitor.
Wolphorio took a moment to consider. The lady to the south was very dangerous, this much he was sure of. Perhaps he could defeat her if he assisted this skeleton. He didn't know whether or not the Skeleton would repay his kindness, but what did he have to lose by trying to make another ally? Perhaps this one would last a little longer.
He turned back and looked at Claudius, reminding himself that above all he must keep this little one safe. Then he let out a howl and lightning struck at the puff of smoke. |
