After much debating with myself, I have decided that it is a 7. Only because I do not think I would recommend this movie to anyone. Not because it isn't good but just because it's just a very niche movie.

Did you guys know going in that it was about her relapse and if not then what did you think would happen? Assuming you thought something would happen
I knew she was gonna relapse from a brief synopsis but I was thinking about how different it might be if I didn’t know

I didn't know what it would be about going in but I figured some kind of shit would be going down at dinner, and realized pretty early on it might be a relapse. Briefly I thought she might just kill everybody when they left her alone with the turkey prep tho. The fact that she'd done something to the family in the past was obvious though, so I figured it would be along those lines | d ( i n o s r o a ) r

I loved the guy’s reaction when she pulled her finger bandage out of the turkey

I knew nothing about this movie other than your brief summary in the other thread. I honestly thought it was going to be drama with other family members, not her own sobriety. I didn't even connect the dots that he was her son until the final scene there. I thought she'd done something MUCH WORSE so I was relieved when that happened.

I was definitely thinking that something bad was going to happen to the baby or maybe she was going to put something in the food.

I'm between a 7 and an 8 on this one. If I didn't know this was based on real events I maybe would've expected a little more from the ending? But definitely sits better in context/knowing this was a bit of catharsis for them. All the family interactions felt really organic too (for now obvious reasons)
I actually liked the cord scene even if it was a bit superfluous (: Reminded me of myself whenever my parents/grandparents ask for computer help
The cinematography was rly good for the budget. Definitely helps that they didn't have to spend much of that on actors
"HEY GRAB ME ONE OF THE LEGS!"/the dad's hysterical laughter during the turkey scene made me lol. I appreciated that character even if he was a bit unlikable
Krisha shaking her dog's head somehow was one of the more shocking moments to me during her relapse. HOW COULD SHE!!

The music, at least in some scenes, reminded me a lot of Punch-Drunk Love. Just like that movie it did a great job inducing a sense of anxiety

Well that was an unexpected roller coaster. It hit really close to home for me with my dad always drunk growing up and seeing him make a gigantic ass of himself every time we had family around.
I took Curtis’s advice and went in cold and knew nothing of the movie nor watched a trailer, and I’m very glad I did. It made it very enjoyable.
I didn’t see the relapse coming and I was expecting something different like she was physically abused or was some type of spy and her family didn’t know of her real secret life. The relapse was so hard to watch for me as I’ve been through that with my dad. It hit close and it was very powerful.
The music was so well done throughout and I never really notice music but in this film I did. Set the mood so well and it really was perfect.
Not sure in the rating and I’ll sleep on it. I think the rating will be lower then I really would rate it because this isn’t s movie for everyone. Josh is right it’s a niche film.
Also, havo don’t watch it, they say “fuck” like 5 or 6 times |

Gave it a 7. I wanted to give it an 8 but I can't really recommend it to everyone; maybe a select few. Still a really good flick. |

Krisha: this movie had no redeeming qualities, none.
