I feel like CFDs on this site won't really amount to much. If I understand it correctly (it's highly possible I don't) then it's based on gauging reactions to quickly piling on votes on someone. If it ends up being a townie, Mafia will do nothing. If it ends up being a Mafia, Mafia will likely still do nothing in order to "distance". More likely most of the Mafia won't be around to give any reaction to it.

It's like, you sometimes can /feel/ that a person who's getting voted is going to flip town. This can be for many reasons, either because they started to make posts that are really townie, or the person claimed a role that's always town, or the wagon has been stale for a while, etc. So you have the possibility if there's some ppl online to /switch/ to another person that ppl are also interested in lynching.

Basic idea is that mafia don't start cfd onto partners and rarely follows with one. Switching votes near eod is inherently townie, in a sense that by putting more ppl into the table then they don't feel "safe" and have to give opinions or take stances.

It's surprising how often wolves who were slanking or laying low during the day fall on cfds, or find themselves unable to play like a villager would. You said yourself that on both cases mafia will do nothing. Even in that case you can say that ppl who are trying to do something are more likely to be town, because being open/vocal about where do you want the lynch to go is often townier behavior compared to just joining a wagon where you feel ppl won't notice you as mafia.
