Lol. Omg.
Finally watched this, the wife picked it.
2nd worst movie I’ve ever seen. Only a Clockwork Orange tops it in that Category.
I usually love twist endings but this one was completely illogical and made zero sense. The entire story was ridiculous.
.0000001/10 |
Do you also hate Ghostbusters because ghosts are bullshit? |
Nope.
Ghostbusters is one of my all time fav comedies. It’s Golden.
I just hate stupid movies and twists that contradict the entire setup of the movie itself.
|
What was illogical and contradicting? |
Here’s a screen grab from reviews on IMDB that I completely agree with.
There are plenty more issues, such as why doesn’t anyone even mention a gun? Ya know one of those things that is perfect for taking down evil twins. Where the hell did all the red uniforms and scissors come from? Why rabbits? Were there dupes for the entire world, or just the US? Were they all housed under Santa Cruz, because how could she convince “All” of them to rise up if they were spread all across the US?
After the girl slung her twin off the minivan by hitting the brakes, why did the mom get out, go into the woods and find the evil dupe in a tree, 20 yards off the road to the right? WTF?
The list goes on and on. |
1. She probably didn't have amnesia and was LYING
2. Answers itself? Is it complaining that she referred to her as a shadow?
3. Why does anyone go insane? Does being hurt in an extremely stressful environment as a child do that possibly?
This person gets A and C given and can't make up their own B. When you get B you get midichlorians.
Here's a B: Insane girl tethered by her clone wants to kill her clone, tells the clones the only way to get free from the tether is to kill their counterparts to get help killing hers.
4. She could have, that's what the other one was afraid of, but 3.
A. That happens in a lot of films and is pretty annoying, at least this was a coordinated attack at the same time at night when most people are sleeping.
B. Who cares where they came from? They had a lot of red fabric down there and everyone got scissors and a sewing needle to make themselves clothes. Happy?
C. The rabbits were foreshadowing that they were an experiment
D. They were in the tunnels across the US, so just the US prob. Immigrants and their descendants since the experiment ended wouldn't have been there though. Maybe she gives a hundred people the idea and they give another hundred the idea and so on across the US?
E. Don't remember that scene vividly TBH.

Jordan Peele tends to avoid spoon feeding you information as you watch and you really have to pay attention and tie things together for them to make sense. It seems like that review just took everything at face value and didn't really look at the deeper meaning of things, which is fine cause that's not everyone's jam. It was chalked full with social commentary and watching it a second time really opened my eyes to all the hints they dropped about everything throughout the film.
While there are a few things that don't fully make sense, Jordan Peele always likes to keep a few things open-ended to leave it up to your imagination as to what will/has happened. |
Oh I understand now.
I’m just not smart enough for a Peele movie, that’s it. Thanks for clearing that up.
I really should have just skipped the urge to call this movie out.

1 Why would she need to lie? No reason for it.
2 what’s the point? To set up the twist that’s the point, but it doesn’t hold up.
3 just fake it til you make it. Ok
4 Not good enough
A and? That shit happens in the South and there is no movie.
B no.
C thats fucking weak story telling
D sure, and we’re all just in the Matrix.
E well it was fucking stupid. So luckily you forgot it.
What’s even the point of the twist? Who gives a shit if she was the evil twin? What difference did it make? She was still protecting the good family members. She wasn’t killing them. It’s a weak ass twist. It’s not important to the story because it doesn’t matter. Now if she had turned on the family at some point it might have worked.

also the moment you're talking about is when the girl goes flying into the tree, ye??
I think she got out because she still saw the other kids as her own in a way. It's why she looked upset when Jason was walking backwards and saw Pluto going into the fire. (From what I remember)

I think the point of the twist was to give you a sense of dread at the end of the movie. Because even though the "hero" still won, it still doesn't feel like a true win because you know the truth. Most of the time in horror movies, you have that moment where you get to clap and cheer when the hero defeats the evil -- But in this one, you only sort of get that moment.

This is the reason I'm afraid to meet Havo. I want to avoid him posting a scathing review of me on FE. We would be enjoying our rouladen at Freiberg's when I would accidentally say fuck and wind up garnering that Tarantino/Us heat from him.
