#513 Kevin Cavanagh made his first submission of the week only yesterday, reitering his goal of beating all his Intermediate times and noting that there was only a day left until an update. So "unless he had a rush of e-mails tomorrow" he didn't think he would make it. Fortunately he managed to beat the last few PRs with two more submissions today, reaching his goal of 32/32 Advanced times. All up he raced 25 PRs this week, enough for a 43pt cut and a gain of 42 positions. Top-500 is imminent from here and, given that Kevin teaches statistics in college, he's probably enjoying seeing his own numbers and stats improve with every PR. I guess that means he'll be back soon with more.

oh hells yeah....Max Payne 3 Mulitplayer.....ranked up to lvl 20 today, took me a week or so. NOW things get interesting, whole new range of weapons and burst available for me to buy. and I saved all my cash in hindsight. Shot all my way to rank 20 with the common guns and without any fancy bursts or body armor. it was troublesome and challenging, but now it's payback time. dual wielding the 608 bull revolver or firing away with the 9mm automatic...oh there will be blood ... red hankerchiefs all over the place :awesome:

Lol...I just tried to picture you putting your collages and siccors aside, taking a controller into your hands, and then playing sheppard, making stupid decisions all the time, starting with you to chose the preset sheppard as your character/avatar
YOU and gaming = how?! ;D

Hennrryyy help. I bought Max Payne 3 yesterday and have been playing it in between power outages. I SUCK AT THIS GAME. I started out on Medium with free-aiming because I'm so pro and it took me a while to make it to the part where you're hanging from the helicopter and then drop onto the roof trying to save Fabiana. I quickly realized this was going nowhere so I restarted on...easy. With hard lock aiming. And I got back up to that point and still get destroyed while pushing through the roof sections.
The farthest I got was where he hops onto the window washer's scaffolding and has it shot out from underneath him before climbing back onto the roof. I went through all of the painkillers he had in no time and took a bullet to the temple. The game taught me how to do something but I'm not entirely sure just what it was - something about if there's only one enemy left and you hold a button and shoot at him you become the last man standing and get some health back or something?
I don't know. I need some tips. About to start the game up again and give it another whirl. Also I might have been a bit buzzed while playing, and the visuals were totally giving me what I assume motion sickness feels like. I love the dialogue though.
I'l gladly give you a few suggestions. things that I think could help you get through without so many bullets piercing your body, forcing you to collapse to the floor, emptying the last clip in last-man-standing mode *edit* been typing for 10 minutes now or so, a few MORE suggestions and in more detail than I had "planned" at first, but worth a read for sure. *edit over*
Whenever you got critically hit, and your healthbar is almost down to 0, you "collapse" and bullet time kicks in automatically- you're in last-man-standing mode. now your crosshair aims in the direction of the guy who shot you, a little (up to a lot, I guess. depending on aiming settings maybe and difficulty. I don't know, I have played in free aim mode from the beginning, on difficulty HARD.) well, the crosshair turns red when you hover over the shooter I think, you can shoother aswell if you can struggle against the force that draws your crosshair towrds the guy that shot you down and possibly kills you if you don't cap him, but be warned, you cannot reload, so if you only have 1 bullet left and you collapse, you have one shot to make it worthwile, BUT, also, you can shoot the guy anywhere really, foot, hand, he will die and you will survive, taking a painkiller after getting up. ALso, also, IMPORTANT: when you collapse to the floor and last man standing is activated , and you cannot aim at the shooter because there's a joist/beam in the way - you can switch the camera angle (which is rly helpful at times) from behind one should to the other. I don't know button that would be, but you ought to use it a lot really. it can mean life or death. another thing, I don't know if that's a Pc issue or if consoles have it too, but the laser pointers on weapons are not accurate, you can toggle off the attachment though, again, I don't know what button though. I personally thought amining with a sniper gun or some rifle was waaaaay more comfortbale without a laser attached to it. just sayin, maybe on the consoles it's no issue at all.
The game is challenging and the A.I. is very sneaky, so you have to react fast. And I guess playing a third person shooter with a controller is more difficult than with keyboard and mouse. I recall Red Dead Redemption being a little painful to play now and then because I am rly not that good at aiming with my thumb only, hovering over some shaky stick or whatever (: ...anyway...try to find the best sensitivity for ya.
Cover system: Max Payne 3 comes with a cover system? NOT MAX PAYNE ANYMORE; FU R* - that was the first reply of the fanbase, but as it turns out it fits into the gameplay perfectly, and also it's 2012 and having a third person shooter without a cover system just doesn't make sense.
You ought to use it, but not stay in cover for too long really. do your reloading and check out where your enemies are located. shoot a guy from cover with aim, then use BLIND FIRE on another one maybe ,(just spraying out of cover without aiming, not getting up with your body to aim more precisely) best used at close range. can be helpful really, but it likely costs you a couple of bullets.
Headshots: You can shoot a guy with a vest like 10 times to the stomache before he starts taking some serious damage, yous hoot his helmet and then his head though, 2 hits only, and he drops dead to the floor, and you have 8 bullets left to do the same to his 4 friends. Sometimes you can take your time with the enemies, firing one extra clip of lead towards their way, but mostly you ought to aim straight for the head or the upper torso at least. Another key to beating some of those waves of enemies that stand in your way
and now comes THE key to taming this beast, and actually riding it like a boss. SHOOTDODGE and BULLET TIME. the key aspects that had the franchise gain the fame and made the series what it is today. You ought to use it like crazy if you ask me.It gives you the drop on your enemies, you can dive to the side and avoid a shot the head and stuff like that. the jump (shootdodge) always works and slows time a little I think, but once you kill guys or get hit, your bullet time hour glass gets filled and you can just switch the button and turn your predicament into a heroic bloodshed, leaving one big mess behind.
Use bullet time, jump twords things you could cover behind, corners, dive backwards, while diving/shootdodging try spinning around and do a 360, you are Max fucking Payne, you can do it. When you hit the floor after those jumps, you can either get up, which takes some time since max got older and a bit heavier and just REALER all over, OR you can just lie on the floor and roll from left to right. prone, on your back, on the sides, you can still aim everywhere, and you can do that at any point really, except in last-man-standing mode where the crosshairs hovers automatically towards your shooter. You need to make use of that liberty in movement and aiming, if you can.
well, that was it, for now I guess. I couldn't have explained those things in short I think. Sorry bruh :face:

Thanks a lot for that henry. I have a feeling my failure can be attributed to the fact that I don't think I was doing very much diving/shootdodging. I was using bullet time but not that trick. This is my first Max Payne game and I was playing it balls to the wall. Utilizing cover and diving will probably go a long way to helping me out.
