hey just like that I already watched one
Avengers: Age of Ultron. It was bad!
It was just...boring. It felt like just a meaningless entry. It was as if the entire MCU was just a tv series and this was just one forgettable episode of it with a monster of the week in Ultron. Ultron was a very lame villain. CGI villains aren't very interesting in general. James Spader did his best but there was nothing to him and his mindless army
A couple of good bits of humor (mostly from Stark/Thor) but most of it fell completely flat and made me cringe. Some of the dialogue in general was pretty bad. There's this part where Black Widow is speeding around on her motorcycle during a chase scene and she awkwardly yells "beep beep! excuse me!" to pedestrians as she speeds by them, it is so embarrassing
Vision is whatever. The twins were whatever. I didn't care about Quicksilver's death at all and don't care for Scarlet Witch's power
They DO do a good job of balancing all the characters. That was a high point in the first Avengers too. A lot of characters to maintain but they give you enough of each one
One thing I really hate that they're OBSESSED with is coming up with an excuse to make the heroes have to fight each other at different times. They did it quite a few times in Avengers. They did it here a bunch. Ironman vs Hulk! Ironman vs Captain America! They did it in Winter Soldier from what I remember? And obviously it's gonna be all over Civil War but that's different so whatever. They just love going out of their way to force those matchups but absolutely nothing comes out of them. Thor vs Ironman wowee. They fly through skyscrapers and drag each other across the road and kick up all the pavement in the exact same shot each time. There is no consequence to any of this and they move on. Yippee! I hate that
5/10

While Age of Ultron might not be as good as The Avengers, it's still without a doubt one of Marvel's better films. This film was also pretty hilarious. It was actually a pleasant surprise how funny this film was. I laughed out loud several times. This might give Guardians of the Galaxy a run for being Marvel's funniest film |
oh no these reviews make me wince

Why do you rate Iron Man 3 so highly?

cuz Shane Black + Iron Man was a p perfect combo I think. Still one of the most pure fun entries they've had yet
|
and I loved the twist, even moreso due to all the fanboys bitching about it. The actual villain ended up being kinda lame tbf tho |

another one down
Civil War. It was aiiiight. A solid middle of the pack entry
It's weird watching these in a wonky order. It really does feel like the universe is a tv series (like I said earlier) and I just watched a flashback episode that finally fills in some gaps and answers some questions. But obviously stuff like Spiderman and Black Panther's intros had no impact on me since I've already seen both of their standalone movies. They were both fine in this
TEAM IRON MAN. Better heroes + I sided with him in the argument
My complaint earlier about how they love cramming in those fanboy one on one fights...couldn't be any more true here. It was Civil War so I GET IT but even before shit started going down they still really couldn't resist. Falcon vs Black Panther! Winter Soldier vs Iron Man! HAWKEYE VS. VISION AT LONG LAST!!!!!! It's just too forced and it's the same fight every time. It was handled better here tho than the two Avengers movies
The other big negative about this movie is that these little tiffs had no consequences whatsoever. They fight, they're evenly matched, they dust themselves off and no harm is done except everyone has the same black eye. The character relationships don't change that drastically and nothing is of any consequence. It's just not my sorta thing at all
I sorta wish War Machine died there just to add some stakes. I did like that some characters had a bit more of an emotional stake in things in this one I guess, especially Tony. They did that better here than either Avengers
The villain was...fine. He was an afterthought. A means to an end I guess
Antman stole his scenes, he remains one of my favorites

The Incredible Hulk (2008)
Thor (2011)
Captain America: The First Avenger (2011)
Iron Man 3 (2013)
Thor: The Dark World (2013)
Thor: Ragnarok (2017)
tbh I might be able to bust these out before I see Infinity War. The only two left that I have any interest in seeing overall are Ragnarok and IM3 so I'll probably watch those first, but if I have time I might try to get to the others

There was one minor thing that bugged me about Civil War
I like that trailer and I’ve watched it a handful of times (I’m a movie trailer nerd). But they went with alternate takes of certain lines for the final cut, it was annoyingly noticeable to me. Best example is Tony’s great “so was I” from the trailer. RBJ kills that line, it’s maybe my favorite shot/line in the MCU and got me excited for this movie. But the one they used for the final cut of the movie wasn’t nearly as good/impactful, it sorta ruined that moment. Pissed me off!!!!!!! You know? Anyone? ..guys?

First Avenger today
I’ve decided to completely disrespect Thor by watching it in 30 minute segments on my phone in my car over my next four lunch breaks this week
