I'm still waiting for this show to get good rather than just 'watchable'. All I want is a liiiittle more of a serialized plot, I get they're going for the old-fashioned episodic western thing but clearly they're setting at least some things up to crop back up later (like that rookie bounty hunter), just waiting for even one of those to pay off
That said the last one was probably the best yet, either that or the Jawa egg one cuz Jawas are the best

This weeks episode was the best one by far. So much story in 40 minutes and 1 episode left |

Last two eps were good, FINALLY some plot development. Finale was directed by Taika and you could definitely tell in parts, like the little scene between the two scout troopers
|
Mando searching for Baby Yoda's race is a pretty fun hook for S2 |

1x05. The episode with the rookie bounty hunter
Meh
These side stories are fun in theory but none have been very compelling at all yet

THERE'S Bill Burr! He was fun, glad he survived. I thought I recognized Clancy Brown under all that makeup as the big guy. NOT glad he survived! I wanted the door trick to absolutely crush him, I hated that guy
Certainly better than the last few episodes

p. good. Glad to finally see Giancarlo, he should be good as always. I'll miss Werner Herzog's strange voice. Gina Carano continues to be a pretty bad actress and I won't miss Quill or Quail or whatever - the drawback of all of these side mission episodes is that you don't see anyone too frequently which means I don't really care about them. Hopefully s2 adds some better characters to root for |

Carl Weathers: I know, let's make the baby do the magic hand thing. Hey baby, do the magic hand thing!
Baby Yoda: *waves and smiles*
Carl Weathers: Ugh I'm out of ideas
Worth the 7 ep build up |

Probably the best episode thanks to the best direction (all hail TAIKA). Liked the helmet removal part, liked Baby Yoda saving the day again, liked the blacksmith taking down the stormtroopers, liked Taika's droid sacrificing (looks like I lied before about not caring about the characters)
I also like the promising direction it could take with Mando training Baby Yoda and maybe starting to visit new and more unique locations
I know Giancarlo's saber is something from Star Wars lore that has people very excited but idk what the significance behind it is. I think it's called a dark saber?
Overall I think the season was still just...good. Which is better than bad! The short episodes probably didn't help, we just got whisked away from moment to moment and it was kinda mostly awkward. Mando touches down on his jetpack after taking out Giancarlo. "Are the stormtroopers gone?" "Yup they're all dealt with!" "The planet will prosper once more!" "I think I will stay here and make a new life for myself." What. You saw each other exactly one minute ago
Whole thing was competently produced and looked great minus some tv budget spotty CGI, but the writing and structuring needs work. It does feel like movie industry ppl dipping into the tv realm and not quite getting it yet. WE'LL SEE!
Baby Yoda is no joke though. I haven't seen a single person shit on him (how could you). It's truly impressive that they came up with something that all modern Star Wars fans can agree is great, a near impossible task) |

That’s how I felt. It wasn’t bad. I enjoyed watching it. Had it been 24 episodes long, idk if I would have made it through it.
|
I’m not a Star Wars Superfan by any means but I like the world and I think it did a good job with that. The creatures were great and Baby Yoda made the show. I will say I did get kind of sad Quill died. He was cool. But I don’t really care about the girl, or the other mandos.
Hopefully they can build on it and improve in season 2. |
