It does when you get to level endings and travel to the next one

FINISHED. DON'T CLICK UNLESS YOU HAVE TOO
|
Point Prometheus was fun. I like that you end up having to become a Big Daddy to fight Fontaine, pretty cool. The design was sweet too, it has a heavy focus on how Big Daddies/Little Sisters/Plasmids/Security Bots are all made so that was cool to see. More great post-death stuff from Suchong too, he's an amusing rat of a character
Proving Grounds was a museum but I feel like I didn't get to look around too much since I was always protecting the Little Sister. I think if she dies you just get a new one but I made it my mission to keep my original alive, and I just BARELY did. The fights weren't particularly hard but it was tough keeping her out of harms way at times
And then the Fontaine finale. Didn't even wanna put Fontaine in the spoiler title since it's a spoiler itself. Honestly this fight was....way too easy. I barely took any damage. I just kept strafing around him and avoided all of his projectiles. He was easier to kill than the average Big Daddy
Loved the Little Sisters showing up and all draining him of ADAM, that was great
I didn't harvest any Little Sister so I got the good ending. YIPPEE! I kept getting so nervous that I'd accidentally press the wrong key and would harvest one over save one, but I managed to save them all
Honestly the ending felt surprisingly rushed to me this time around. I far prefer the happy ending over the other two and it's a sweet moment, the five hands reaching for dying Jack. It's a nice conclusion even if it's presented in a sappy sorta way. But it did overall feel really quick. I killed Fontaine and about 30 seconds later the credits were rolling. This was 10 years ago though so I sorta get it, these big cinematic endings weren't as huge back then. I'd have liked to see what happened to Tenenbaum and see some sorta step between Fontaine and rising to the surface, but it was still great
I don't love the grey ending. If you harvest just one Little Sister you get the same ending as if you harvested every single one like a monster, the only difference is Tenenbaum's tone in the narration (she's much less angry with you if you only harvested a few). I just think such a downer ending isn't really deserved if you only harvested one, but I also read that the multiple endings were thrown in at the very last minute and there was only mean to be one ambiguous ending so that sorta explains it
I was pleasantly surprised when I got the achievement for finding all of the audio diaries. I was searching every level pretty thoroughly but I thought I for sure missed at least one along the way, so I was pretty pumped that I didn't. Almost had all my weapons upgraded but the final power to the people station is in Cohen's upper apartment which you can only access if you kill him later and not straight away, so that was a bit of a bummer for completions sake
Only thing I'd have left to do if I replayed some levels would be to fully research all enemies with photographs, but I'm not gonna do that. I'd rule this one P. COMPLETED. If I didn't get all the diaries I'd have gone back for them. The only last bit to do here is to play the three challenge levels. I'm not sure if that's DLC or not? I didn't see an option for it anywhere but I'm guessing/hoping I got it in the collection
Amazing game overall. I can't wait to play the next two again and get a definitive ranking of the trilogy. I keep reading stuff about how the second one is extremely underrated and that the combat is improved over the first and apparently FAR better than Infinite, so we'll see. I'll be able to judge more by playing all three relatively back to back to back |

Your choice!
If you harvest them you get more ADAM. If you spare the you get way less but every so often you’re rewarded with a bit of it
Can you live with harvesting those little cunty kids, Ahoda?

I suck at this game!
I just finished Farmer's Market. I couldn't figure out how to seal the entrances so I ended up in a big fight with a bunch of splicers and a Big Daddy...and no ammo.
Speaking of Big Daddy's, they are now turning up without the Little Sisters all of a sudden. That's interesting, and annoying! I hypnotized one tho, which was cool.
Question about Big Daddy's in general: Do they attack you on sight, or do they only do that if they are escorting Little Sisters?
Anyhow, just started Fort Frolic. Looks like the coolest location so far. I like the crazy guy on the intercom. The spotlight following you is a nice touch.
Given how slowly I'm progressing, don't bother waiting for me to catch up Curt |

Big Daddies will always only attack if you attack them first, even if they're protecting a Little Sister. If you approach a Big Daddy/Little Sister they'll warn you not to come close but they won't attack, only if you hit him or her at some point
Once you harvest/rescue a lil sis, the Big Daddy that you killed will basically respawn and just sadly roam the halls of Rapture alone. He won't bother you unless you attack him, I always leave those ones alone
It's actually really sad, they go up to those crawl spaces in the wall and bang on it hoping for the Little Sister to come out, but since you've saved her she never comes. They bang a few more times and sadly groan out and walk away rejectedly |

So I've been picking fights with these lonely schmucks for no damn reason?
God damn it!
You say they never attack first, but in Farmer's Market I was spotted by a Big Daddy/Little Sister and the Big Daddy charged at me immediately. To which I opened fire. Is that how they warn you?
I'm gonna try walking up to one to test this out. |

You need to have a civil conversation with him Wikey
Maybe start by introducing yourself. Ever think of that?

So a Big Daddy was walking towards me in a hallway, and I decided to stay put and see what would happen.
It walked straight past me. Didn't even register my presence!
I like that they aren't simply crazy monsters that attack on sight. This gives them a lot of depth, and actually in a strange way makes them scarier.
This was a peaceful moment, but it was ruined when a splicer appeared out of nowhere and sucker punched me. The fucker triggered my electrical defense, which in turn hit the Big Daddy, who got pissed and killed me. Asshole splicers.
|
- Best level so far, no contest. Cohen was a very fun enemy, and fighting all those splicers off to classical music was a highlight.
- I didn't let him finish his end speech; I thought it would be funny to try and gun him down mid sentence. It didn't work.
- Those sudden flashes of family portraits and ghosts spook me every time.
- That tape of the pregnant lady and the flashback of her getting shot was grim. |
I'm starting to get the hang of the balance between plasmids/guns now. I do my best to use wrench and plasmids only on splicers, and save my weps for Big Daddy's
