I was going to remind people that Bryce said it was what some people had wanted. And I saw people ask for it in one of the other threads. So he was only doing what he thought some people would have wanted. It's literally one of the only things a Mod has power over. :P

Yeah, if people want it and I can fulfill it, of course I would try.
Ultimately, a mod has like no power other than rep, threads, and a voice from a different platform.
But unless rep gets removed, it will always be a thing people will have to worry/complain about.
Locking a thread does nothing. Debating and discussion is healthy. If people really wanted to continue arguing, it can and will happen in any thread.
And even though a mod may have a different kind of influence, people will still do what they want.
So, what I can really offer is fun, my time to set up games and other things like them, and to try and change a mindset of the forum.

There are a lot of people here I'm sure that have different anxieties or insecurities in their life.
They come here to get away, find community, find freedom and fun. But then they just get shit on or pushed out and then everything they feel about their life outside of FE becomes FE to them as well.
I hate that. That's something I would like to change.

5. I, like many of you, am curious about why our reputation is the way it is. If you vote for me, I will give you a running list of your reputation when you ask me to.
This sounds like an absolutely terrible idea |
Agree, plus saying only those who vote for you seems like a threat. :P
Also, I don't really think anyone should be "talked to" about that nor do I think a mod should be that concerned with it. |
You have threat and incentive mixed.
But after reading, I do see how it would be destructive. I think in my mind, I would want to know my reputation so I can see who seems to have a problem with me and squash it. I wouldn't use it to kill people in games or to then serial smite them to feel good. So, I was more operating off of that than anything else.
If that is not something that would be desired, then I will take that away from my campaign. I'm definitely not looking to stir up peoples history or anything, but I really do hate the anonymity of reputation altogether.
I think the site would be 10x better without it |
I know it is supposed to be an incentive but it's also like a threat - if you don't vote for me you won't get this! I want a mod who's going to be a mod for ALL FE (and not just the people who voted for them) so I don't like the thought that you'll only do something (whether it is karma lists or whatever else) just for people who voted for you.
Also, you said that was one reason you want to be mod lol. I think you should let it go. (I know it sounds weird coming from me, and it does bug you when a group of people decide they don't like you - or even one person, but having a list anytime of everyone who smites me would probably not be good for me.) Plus, I can usually figure it out myself. :P You're probably right about getting rid of it, I just really dislike using it as a carrot for votes and against people who didn't vote for you (which is what it feels like, sorry).

I mean, I think it goes for everyone that, if not elected, a lot of the things will go off the table. I'd still like to host the games and still want to work at the atmosphere of the site, but I think anything a mod can do, anyone else can do. That's why it seems silly in a lot of ways.
But I said I was taking the rep thing off the table anyway, so it's kind of moot. But that's why I didn't say I would only do things for people who vote me. I just used that one thing as an incentive.
But I get the vibe, but it's not happening anyway so it hardly matters. Would still like to remove rep from the site though. :P

B, it's not any different from someone posting a list of things that they will do IF their candidate is elected. It's incentive. But that damned hotdog song better happen regardless of who wins.

I agree with you 100% that anything a mod can do (besides locking threads, looking at karma lists, etc), everyone else can do. Especially the atmosphere, attitude thing.

Christian, it's different if you are only promising something TO THE PEOPLE WHO VOTED FOR YOU. Once you're elected, you should be a mod for all the people of FE imo. What if Trump only wanted to use his presidency to benefit a certain part of the population like the very rich and the... oh wait. :P
