With a crossbow you can hunt for food, attack people from afar without being noticed if you have to, etc.

This would be a risk because it's entirely predicated on me being lucky enough to find a weapon (whether it's off someone's dead body or stealing one from somebody while they're sleeping), but if I did, that's a huge advantage. At the very least, as long as I stayed alert enough I'd be able to survive for a while if no one landed a headshot/limbshot on me

If I had anything else I probably would be way more reckless tho and go out guns blazing, cuz I'd constantly be paranoid I'm in someone's sights so would want to get a leg up

I was about to say the same thing. I'd probably trip and fall on it, or have it taken and used against me. I picked dagger. Would have to get real close to use it, but I can be sneaky.
