i don't know of any sheathed weapon that disappears when you use it. so if you don't have it, then i'm guessing it was either lost or stolen before he was lynched.

i doubt anyone would give up a weapon in this game. seems far more likely that someone stole it (which means that someone is a non-career thief?) or he lost it during a fight or some other game event. either way, it should still exist.
