I just finished this earlier. When it ended I was really high on it and was telling myself I thought it was on-par with Daredevil, but just sixty minutes later I don't feel the same way, but I did like how dark it got at points. It was definitely enjoyable and Tennant plays a fantastic villain but Daredevil is still king (as is D'Onofrio as Kingpin). It did completely turn me around on Krysten Ritter. I hated Jane in Breaking Bad so much that I almost couldn't stand to see her.

Kilgrave had immense power that he could have wielded to do just about anything, and his chief aspiration in life is this one girl. I get his obsession with her being the only one ever able to resist his powers, but still. They really stretched it out for as long as they possibly could have. I teeter between finding it refreshing and finding it annoying that this powerful villain had such petty goals.
Since they just killed him off I wish they would have done been done with Kilgrave a couple of episodes before the finale in order to begin setting up the next villain for her or even Luke Cage's series. Though I guess if they just plan on using Nuke then they've already done that.
The fight scenes weren't as good as the ones in Daredevil, and it seemed like Jessica's strength was inconsistent throughout the episodes, even before she got her ribs broken. I did really like pretty much all of the supporting cast and side characters, but my biggest gripe with the show is those twins they shoehorned in there. Christ, they were insufferable.
All of that said I'm still pretty excited by this street level superhero stuff that Marvel is doing with Netflix and I'll be eager to see Cage and Ironfist. |

You should watch Don't Trust the B**** on Netflix.
Just watched Episodes 6 and 7 and JESUS did this show go from 0 to 60 super quick.
I think the cinematography and dialogue in Daredevil is much better, but I think the overall story in characters in JJ are much more interesting and compelling. It really all depends on your cup of tea methinks, but I"m only halfway through.

I don't wanna spend too much time comparing this to Daredevil but it's hard not to tbh. At this point in Daredevil I was wayyyy more enthralled in the characters/story. By the end of episode three..
|
We had the great fight scene at the end of episode two with Daredevil really becoming a hero. And at the end of episode three, the assassin guy impaled himself through the eye on the sharp piece of fence. That said/did a lot more for the story than these characters in JJ so far. I just watched the part where she fights the police officer and the family of three. By the third/fourth time a family member ran at her wielding a candle stick, it was kinda laughable and already played out. Killgrave's powers are frightening but I really hope they do more with it and come up with some more twisted stuff. Turning people into drones and Jessica having to disarm them and not kill them is kinda fucked up sure, but I'm not feeling it right now. Maybe I'm just not a fan because the direction of the fight scenes are kinda meh compared to Daredevil's which were consistently great |
I also cared a lot more about Matt's relationship with Karen, Foggy, and his dad at this point than I do about Jessica's with Luke, Trish, etc.
Other than that everything has remained on par. Episodes 1/2/3 are all pretty even for me. I'm waiting for something to happen that really elevates things to the next level |

Jeri: Get a hold of yourself, you're coming across distinctly paranoid.
Jessica: Everyone keeps saying that, it's like a conspiracy.
I love the dialogue. | nav is ugly and i am pretty |

It's so bizarre to me when they make references to the Avengers etc. This and Daredevil seem like an entirely different world. I can somehow grasp the concept of Avengers existing among this world / Daredevil ...but for anyone who watches Agents of Shield it's ridiculous to think that is the same world. Agents of Shield is like Looney Toons to this.

I agree completely, when I watch this it's so easy to forget it's a part of this world. I thought the same for Daredevil but even that felt more like a superhero show than this. Then they go and do a reference and it's like "OH YEAH"

I finished it all not too long ago. I loved it, but I haven't seen Daredevil, so I can't compare. Tennant and Ritter are both amazing.
