Well, that ending was unexpected. I was actually thinking to myself earlier in the episode how the Senator's the only unsympathizable character on the show. Then they go and make me feel sorry for that dick

The Teddy/Tawney stuff is pretty brutal. I keep feeling more and more sorry for Teddy and the actor is a big part of it. Janet forgetting that the fast food place was actually Teddy's favorite and especially when she realizes she's ignored him and regrets asking him to stop calling her mom. The way he says "No biggie" was super sad
I love that the show is strong enough to not necessarily have Daniel in the foreground of the last two premieres. He had good stuff this episode like the park and Amantha scene, but not a ton. I feel like Teddy got more screentime and it worked well

Damn, Ted Jr has gotten a ton more sympathetic this season. I like how the scene starts out making it feel like he's bragging about sleeping with Julie, then ends with him admitting that what he did was shitty, and admitting that he's not a great person. That felt like a pretty big moment for him, to actually admit his faults. And despite this breakthrough, it happens while he's doing another fairly shitty thing in stalking Tawny (:
I really liked the music when Melvin/Daniel were talking for some reason
also no updates on the Senator :( Guess I'll have to wait 2 weeks to find out what happens there |

I'm almost tempted to just wait til the season ends to watch the rest tbh. I think this show would've worked better on Netflix, it's not really an episodic show

Just on episode 2 now but I love it so much. Growing up in the south some of the little nuances of the show really sell it for me.

Just caught up. This show is so refreshing compared to everything else on TV
|
I just love the simplicity of it. Like what other show would have a character painting a pool for about 3 episodes and successfully turn it into an introspective character study?
Daggett was one of the weaker characters to me the first couple seasons, but I really have enjoyed his story this year. Watching him work the case has been far better than the case in True Detective S2 tbh, and that's not even the focus of this show
Amantha's speech at the manager training session might be my favorite S3 scene so far. Tawney/Teddy's scene in the car was great too
also
"Shall we toast to Sheriff Daggett?"
"No."
it was a smaller moment but the editing/delivery on that line was perfect (: |
extended finale this Thursday woo

I am more than halfway into Season 4, and while I do like the characters, the big moments aren't hitting it enough for me. I think I'm done with it :(
