This seems like a totally awesome movie. I am usually not interested in Monster concept movies, but this one in particular really grabbed my attention. I might check it out. :)
A lesson without pain is meaningless. That's because no one can gain without sacrificing something. But by enduring that pain and overcoming it, he shall obtain a powerful, unmatched heart. A fullmetal heart.
It is OK. Basically some extremely crowd pleasing moments worth the price of admission within an otherwise average movie.

I thought this was really meh. There were a few pretty cool moments but that's about it. tbh I thought the intro was the best part of the whole movie (:
Pretty much the first hour feels like filler while we wait for Godzilla to actually show up. I wouldn't mind this (King Kong did a similar thing) if I actually cared about any of the characters. I didn't care at all whether any of them lived/died
I have no idea how this is rated the same as Pacific Rim. I think that movie was pretty much everything this movie could've/should've been. It had actual characters (not that they were GREAT, but they weren't cardboard either), good dialogue, better action, more interesting settings, and an actual sense of FUN. This just felt like a dull drag to set up a couple cool moments
FIRST OF ALL! The lady sitting next to me was the most annoying movie goer I've ever seen. She GASPED at everything and nothing, she made strange wincing noises when the tide was rolling in, she screamed at the shot of the beetle on the toy tank, and she cried when Godzilla was buried by the building. CRIED!!
So that didn't help the experience
Apart from that though, I really did not like how every member of the Brody family happened to be right in the center of the action. No matter where they went around the entire EARTH(!), the monsters were there. Ford goes to Hawaii to catch a plane, and that's where the MUTO's head next. The little kid is put on a bus, and the bus is driven into the mouth of Godzilla. The building that Elisabeth Olson is cowering in is always right next to the big fight scene and is the only building in the city not destroyed by it. I get that they wanted to show everything from their POV, but there were just too many coincidences for me. It started to bother me
BUT Godzilla was really cool. I would've liked quite a bit more from him. I hope the sequel features 100% more Godzilla vs. creature fight scenes. Best part was when he breathed his atomic breath down the females throat. That was pretty great. The lady next to me stood up and cheered..
The scene on the railroad was my favorite. I loved the shot of them laying down with the MUTO beneath, and the shot of the flaming train coming after them. That scene made me want the sequel to be on a SMALLER scale honestly, like Jurassic Park. That bridge/jungle location was really cool. A handful of characters being on a large island like that while Godzilla takes on some creatures around them would be great I think
Could've used more Cranston too. He did well in his emotional scenes
